If you had cancer...

When all else fails resort to name calling. Happens a lot for those who can't hold their ground properly. So this is the logical fallacies you were talking about. There must be more right, as you said fallacies, not fallacy. Before I answer, tell me any other fallacies on my previous post.

Ok I'll take the bait.

"What if an cancer cure is so easy anyone can do it without the need for medicine. What will happen to the stock price of the pharmaceutical company releasing that?"

Well if it was so easy that anyone can do it then why doesn't anyone do it? I don't get what you are attempting to say.

Do you mean that they come up with a cure that is "so easy"? Well they patent it and their stock price goes through the roof. If you meant that they didn't come up with it then how the hell would they stop it coming out.

This thread has been a great read, thanks to all those that participated. I look forward to the next one.

Wait - you didn't actually think you had cancer because of a swollen lymph node, did you? There's literally dozens of things that can cause your nodes to swell up.

Pretty much. Other than the fact I'm not fat, eat lots of vegetables, and drink lots of milk, I don't have much going for me in the health department. I smoke, I drink, I don't exercise enough (do walk lots though), etc.

Regardless, when you see a one inch bulb sticking out of your neck, it's only natural to think there might be something wrong. No doctor visit required though, and it's nearly gone, so I'm happy. Went away on its own, so good deal, because I hate doctors.

EDIT; Then again, my mom is healthy as can be I guess (just had a physical), and she's probably more unhealthy than me. My dad on the other hand has all sorts of shit wrong with him, and he's a health freak. Go figure.

Yeah man you probably just had some kind of infection in your throat/chest that cleared up on its own.

Don't eat your vegetables and then slack on exercise - you'd be better off doing it in the reverse. Exercise regulates/modulates a metric fuckton of biological pathways and we're only discovering more every day. The difference that spending a few hours a week with an elevated heart rate can make for your physical and mental well-being cannot be overstated.

You been sleeping around/had any swollen nodes on either side of your groin? Might be worthwhile to go get a standard STI panel done if that's the case - suddenly swollen lymph nodes in a previously healthy person is a pretty classic early-warning sign for a lot of STIs.

My choice will depend on how severe the cancer here and how much money I have of course. I'm not a fan of alternative medicine, so my choice will either be A and B. Though weighing those I'd likely go with B. Like why suffer?

What, you mean questions like "What will happen to cancer research charities such as cancer research uk when a 'cure' is found. Will they keep receiving donations or go out of business?"

What a ridiculous question. Why the fuck would massive pharma companies give a shit about cancer research charities??? What was that question supposed to insinuate? What, cancer research UK have any control over whether a cure is found or not, and if and when its found what is done with that cure?

You sir are an idiot

I asked the question because mituozo said this:

There's a huge number of not for profit's looking for cancer treatments, which undermine the entire "the cure is out there but it's not patented" argument.
Both you and mituozo are arguing for pharmaceuticals that you may agree with his statement too. So do you agree with that? At most my question was unnecessarily directed at you, but its not a logical fallacy.

However, you committed 2 logical fallacies.

Being easy is not equal and equivalent to being known.

Do you mean that they come up with a cure that is "so easy"? Well they patent it and their stock price goes through the roof. If you meant that they didn't come up with it then how the hell would they stop it coming out.

Being easy does not necessarily mean it can be patented.

The doctors plague ran from 1600s to the mid 1800s. The puerperal infection was a devastating disease. It was actually caused by the doctors and midwives not taking hygiene measures. They knew not of germs. The solution was simple, wash/disinfect hands and other surgical equipment. That's an example of how a solution is so easy but was not done for centuries, due to lack of knowledge. The hygiene idea was also rejected by the medical profession due to the fact that it conflicted with the medical concepts of the time as well as their ego. This type of egotistical rejection is still happening to this day.

Also hand washing is an example of a solution that can't be patented right. Not everything can be patented.

Please tell me your actual point in plain English because I can't for the life of me understand what you are trying to say.

I am talking about overall. It just sounds gibberish to me. Is English your first language?

The 'gibberish', which really it isn't, has demonstrated that I did not commit any logical fallacies yet you have committed two.

And why am I talking about logical fallacies, its because:

You logic facilities are broken. Lets end it there.

When you're asking me what I am talking about overall, I suppose you're asking me why I asked

What if an cancer cure is so easy anyone can do it without the need for medicine. What will happen to the stock price of the pharmaceutical company releasing that?
I asked you because I wanted you to test your idea with other scenarios. Stock price would go up? I have already explained in my previous response how this may not be so.

First attack's with ad hominem and next an attack on English. Weak, very weak.

Still gibberish.

For the attack to be ad hominem you would have had to have had an argument in the first place. You have not put forward any argument whatsoever just a load of odd and irrelevant questions that don't form any flow of logic.

And by your response (and your style of writing) I am guessing that English isn't your first language, which is fair enough, I am not going to attack you for that, but does explain why I can't understand a thing you are trying to say.

Testing my ideas??? Someone has delusions of grandeur.

If you have a point then please make it, if not your little illogical quiz is getting boring.

I was referring to your use of 'idiot'.

Just because you can't follow the logic does not mean that it's illogical or that English is my second language. I have already made my point, though you lack the capacity or ability to comprehend. There are others who have responded to me earlier that can comprehend my posts as well as follow the logic. It is pathetic to make an attack on English. All it does is reveal to others your inability to provide a counter argument. Or maybe you really do lack the ability to understand basic logic.

Amazing stuff: "Since then there has been an explosion of interest in the technology because it is such a simple method of changing the individual letters of the human genome – the 3 billion “base pairs” of the DNA molecule – with an accuracy equivalent to correcting a single misspelt word in a 23-volume encyclopaedia."
