If there are no mass restrictions, why not jump an entire region or country? Even a small country like Myanmar could be a global power if its military edge was high enough. 200 years prior and they could control all of Asia with their current military and equipment.

If the goal is monetary gain, knowing that butterfly effects would make subsequent actions slightly less likely to occur, you'd have to bet big on a single action. Things like a backpack of turnips to the height of tulip mania would result in significant gain. If we're talking terminator style (naked and no possessions) then it would be a matter of surfing on a trend (like generic domains mentioned, significant movement in commodities prices, certain securities, etc). Go be a janitor for Google in the early rented house days and offer to work for stock...keep your head down, work hard, and you'd get rich. Funny, that applies to current times too.

I'd want to meet DiVinci, Einstein, Tesla. Obviously if you had a time machine you'd be all over the place man. So much to see and do... but seriously... The past is the past the future is where it's at..
