I have 8 domain one site and i have a seo stratagy question? thanks in advance

ok we have 8 domain names and one site, the domain names are relative to keyword searches, so i was wondering can we try to optimize the remaining 7 domains to page 1 if possible and have them forward to our money site. they are just domain names though. the end result intended is to try grab hold of as many spots on pg 1, is this possible if so do you have any suggestions, if not does anyone have a suggested strategy to impliment and get max benifit of these domains, we currently already have our main site on page one of yahoo for our search terms, any help with this would be great.

can you try? yes. It needs to be more then a name. There will have to be relevant content.

If I understand you correctly, you now have 8 names, and all of them point to 1 site. Like this:

Name 1 -----------------> Site
Name 2 -----------------^
Name 3 -----------------^
Name 4 -----------------^
Name 5 -----------------^
...
etc...ad infinitum ...

Speaking from inside experience, these will be collapsed to 1 search result, basically, the SERPs will only display 1 domain, not 8.

We called this "collapsing", no idea what google calls this.

What you want to do is to try and dominate the niche.

This means:

  • Have a site for each domain name.
  • Decide which one will be your primary (money making) site. Build that into a heavyweight (content, links, SEO, etc...)
  • Use the other sites to promote your site.
  • Build unique (or semi-unique) content for each site.
  • Highlight different topics in your niche.
  • Exploit different content types (forum, video site, content site, blogs).
  • Read up on interlinking strategies.
  • Profit!!

no you need unique or semi unique content and to change up your template a bit.
 
To further gutterseo's point, the other sites will be useless if duplicated, thanks to the duplicated content penalties and amazingly obvious nature that it's intended for spam.

Just spin the content in something like jetspinner or contentboss, and reupload it.
Yes, it's more tedious grunt work... SEO's all about that.
 
I was asking for some strategy on one of my sites. Just to get input on other ideas. Here is what you should do.

Make accounts on sites like blogger, squidoo, wordpress and the many others out there. Build unique content with relevant keywords you would like to rank for. Link you 8 other domains which also should each have different content on them. Then link those 8 sites to your main site.

A couple things to make sure of.

Since you are linking your sites and not from wp, blogger or the such. You will want to have a different ip for each website. Make sure they are not even the same c-class.

Sites linking to each other from the same ip mean squat.

Also for ranking purposes, Make a Myspace account, Youtube account and any other places that you can build up to push back to your main site.
