Interesting little fact: Experts estimate that there are around 10,000 to 15,000 tigers now kept as pets or in private facilities in the US. For perspective, it is estimated that there are only about 5,000 left in the wild.

lol yeah i laughed at that 5,000 tigers in the wild estimate. Are people aware that there's multiple breeds of tigers? there are more than 5000 tigers of certain breeds left i'm pretty sure; number is probably not far form accurate but def dont see it being on point
and one thing the article gets right is the 'idealism' . Humans are damaging earth at such a rate that we need to have such pets to preserve the species. Otherwise, the same people on here talking fcraz about 'leave them wild' will just kill off a species via forest clearing for home/business, pollution, eco-system changing, etc.

I was going to get a serval but had to settle for savannah because servals you have to have all sorts of state licenses and 1000's of hours community service.
They are pretty awesome. Remember that guy that had like 30+ exotic animals on his farm and they all had to be shot down because the owner let them out. Hopefully they dont ever have to get put down.
Bummer, savannahs are sick as well though. Too bad the good ones cost upwards of $10k lol
