I got a notice from Time Warner for downloading copyrighted movies

Too much shit to worry about when downloading movies off torrants - im more than happy to pay the $3 and get an easy to find, clean download off itunes.

Like I said, normally I only get torrents from IP Torrents. It's invite only, trackers are all private. I've uploaded 330 GB in the past few years and downloaded 180 GB from IP Torrents with no problems.

The notice I got was from a torrent from the pirate bay with public trackers. They give you the exact name of the torrent you were caught with. This will be the last time I get anything from the pirate bay.

As far as you know, a neighbor accessed your wifi network which you forgot to password protect, amirite?

Yes. The notice they give you almost leads you into giving a copout answer such as your computer has a virus, your network was compromised, etc. They suggest nearly every possible scenario in which it is not your fault. The notice seemed more of a formality and seems to indicate that my ISP (Time Warner) is relaxed with this issue. I am not really worried, but more curious to see if anyone else has gotten similar notices.

PeerBlock

You're fine, unless they want to make an example out of somebody. Then they've got you on the list. But the chances of that happening is comparable to getting a BJ from Cameron Diaz.

Usually you can throw these messages in the trash. I know people who get popped with 2-3 a month and keep warezing. BUT I'm not in the USA. So I don't know.

And yes, Usenet, Rapidshare etc. Shits faster than torrents anyway. Torrents are too public. I've been hit with a copyright infringement notice as well 2-3 years ago for a really shit movie I forget the name of. Disregarded and never heard anything since.

Private trackers doesn't guarantee anonymity either. You think WB don't know how to acquire an invite? But yes, it cuts the risk a LOT. Like almost 99% frum my kalukulationz.

I'll have to look into usenet.

But, faster? No way. I have a 30 Mbit download connection and I always max that out easily when downloading anything even remotely popular from IP Torrents.

get a Seedbox and sftp your shit off of it your isp cant see shit and your share ratio will be baller = faster speeds

There is no need to worry. Must be some marketers tactics to generate leads using unethical method.

I got 1 of those letters about 6 months ago, kid who works for me was running a torrent server off my t1.

they nabbed maybe cuz he had a true 0 day game rip and apparently he was a source seed
