I can't believe no one has started a thread about the NSA shit from this week...

At least the spooks, thieves, and power-hungry murderers that comprise the state generally act in a rational manner.* For that matter, so do the recipients of the state's largesse, from welfare queens to Goldman Sachs.

But other folks who believe in the state's good intentions... they seem downright nutty to me.

* i.e. they act with purpose.

It's interesting how my opinion just changed of this guy after watching this video. The first I had read about him was this piece from Slate (digg email headline)

and let the character assassination begin.

What could have happened is this guy learned his networking on the street when he was supposed to have been in school. While he was a security guard, the people he worked around probably knew enough about him to know he could do more than just be a security guard.

There are some things you're not gonna know if you haven't had 'formal' training, that's what the press has been focusing on today. But they were looking for someone who thinks like a hacker to come look at their shit and see if it could be hacked.

Hellblazer, are you here? Why is Beck agreeing with a guy who writes for a European hippie newspaper and who lives in Brazil with his un-American homosex husband? Why isn't Mr. Beck instead standing up for national security and supporting our Christian family man President?

Is Glenn Beck a true American Patriot, or could he realy be a secret communist operative?

I think it is quite obvious that this homo brazilian should now run for president. I mean, a homo for president, that is even better than a black guy.

LOL 9:35 he tells her she is reading White House talking points.

The reason there is such a big deal being made about 'legality' is because if what they were doing was not legal, they can't charge him due to whistleblower protection laws.
