Hahahah. I think Einstein just got dickrolled.

OP: If you can't setup Quickbooks, you're in the wrong place.

I'm too lazy to learn a new software, so I stick with Excel. I have a spreadsheet with columns for the date, purpose/company, check #, deposit amount, expense amount, and running balance. It basically looks like the checkbook transaction ledger. It's simple and works for me so I stick with it.

No need to get all belligerent... You asked a stupid question... and you did it in an insulting way, so of course you are going to get shit for it.

I use quickbooks online and it works great for my company. Despite my being an internet marketer, I somehow mustered the intelligence to get it set up. Took me all of about 20 mins.

PRO TIP: The purpose of an accountant is to do the CEO's bitch work. (aka this quickbooks/accounting shit you speak of)

If you can't figure out QuickBooks which by the way, is built mainstream for even the accounting idiot, you don't deserve to be in AM.

search the forum for a guy named Sticks - he has a software that can take care of all of this.

I use Quickbooks Premier. I reconcile my accounts monthly and do the cheque writing and deposits. The accountants then handle everything else. Quickbooks works pretty well, though there are some "issues", especially with the Canadian version. Their support is relatively helpful too.

Quickbooks really isn't all that hard.

There is another option I used to use, but the accountants told me to ditch it in favor of QB - it's called "SQL-Ledger" and runs on PostGreSQL + Web which is nice for accounting via the web. There is also a fork, but it doesn't seem to be updated in some time. These weren't bad packages, but once you grow and have an accountant looking at your shit they'll surely tell you to move to QB or Simply or something of that nature.

Here are the two free ones tho;

LedgerSMB.Org | Community developed Open Source accounting software

and

SQL-Ledger ERP

Obviously these are mostly open source, so you can customize to anything "AM" specific.
