How to monetize my directory site??

Now that you have results from it, that is good. It is time to upgrade!

As you have a focused directory, you have a lot of options depending on how much you want to invest into improving it.

One option is to offer premium memberships for advertising, etc.

Adsense is one of the highest payers out there, so if you were with any other place you likely would find you earn less.

Add other ads and it reduces what you get from adsense. The best way to go about this is with CPA or Affiliate Links to earn extra.

Take a look at what people are searching for, and try to find a generic product or some product that most of those people are looking for.

That way you can be sure that putting the links up will produce more money.

The keyword for you is OPTIMIZE!

Evening all,

Noob in need of help...

A year ago i bought a local online business directory KentFind.co.uk.

Its a fairly old PR4 site and gets around 11,000 uniques each month (26,000 pageviews) which is all from natural searches - no PPC.

I covered it in adsence which brings in around £100 each month and on top of that, it makes a bit on 'Premium Listings'.

Im now a bit stuck as i dont know what else to do with it??

Any tips?? If not i'll probably think about selling it.

Thanks

Hi Freeman - Are you still looking to sell your site? I may be interested in purchasing only a copy of the website for use in my hometown, and you can still operate the original site. Let me know...

best way to monetise would be google adds yes but also add clickbank with products within your niche would be great, also cpa offers are very good as you wouldnt be selling anything with cpa offers your simply been paid for giving things away and nothing to sell.

It depends on how much time you want to put in. For a longer term strategy, segment your list and promote relevant products to them via emails - Also, when applicable, generate leads for the businesses being listed. You just put your affiliate ranking higher than all other competition, and put emphasis on his listing.

For example, lawyers. When a user comes to your site looking for a lawyer, you have the power to decide who they should see first. Lawyers are happy to pay good money for your leads, if they are authentic.

So in addition to selling them leads, you can also sell relevant products to them. Email marketing services, testimonial services, logo-redesign, ect.

Be creative. Business owners have money and can often be convinced to give you that money - just be sure to focus on providing REAL value and not just making a quick buck. If you can keep providing that value, you will be able to make money from them over and over again because they will trust you.
