I have a blog network that gets a few viral bombs each week, that brings lots of viral traffic to my network. I just use viral pictures and videos in a list form, and it's work like charm when push it to social media. Traffic comes from mostly: facebook, twitter, reddit and stumbleupon.

The problem is I know I really couldn't monetize it well. Tried a few things but never make some serious bucks form that network.

Need a stronger monitizing strategy to convert all that viral traffic to money.

How to monetize a website that gets viral traffic? Some strategies? Disccuss.

As promised: best boobs for you guys :rasta:

DomboCom, thanks for your opinion. I have a question about content lockers.

What kind of content locker can work for this? Which networks do you prefer?

Should I locate it in first page that people coming in or I must use a banner or something to send them that page with a incentive? Soes it hurt SEO, locating content locker to real page? if it's yes, I should use it on a page that don't get SE traffic.

I'm sorry, what was the question again?

Maybe try a content locker.

Content lockers don't work very well with viral websites. People will stop sharing it if they see a content locker. Tested it with one of my websites, lost all the stumbleupon traffic.

Social traffic is blind to standard ad formats, you gotta get creative. I wouldn't use a content locker because thats one sure way to stop people sharing your content as Spanic said.

Heres an idea... Assuming its a wordpress blog - Add "Featured" pages on the right hand side and post some articles promoting products.

If you get a ton of traffic just put some adsense and other ad related banners if you don't want to figure out a good solution.

Don't listen to this guy. Speaking from experience Adsense is complete shite for social traffic, trust me.

To me, if it's just some funny picture or something like that that you can't make t-shirts and plush dolls and angry birds type merchandising, then I'd just do some PPV ads. That would guarantee some amount of money on the traffic, although not what you'd hope for. But viral doesn't necessarily equal targeted.

That kind of traffic is notoriously hard to monetize. Have you tried doing what other big viral sites do with the catchy BustedTees and Married But Lonely banners?

If traffic is related to restaurants, design/photoshop, or food, I'm interested in a deal :)

Nice boobs.

BTW; I don't think you're using the word Viral correctly.

In marketing, the term Viral simply means that the content includes some kind of incentive (bribe) for it to get passed along.

Like offering a rebranding kit for it so that other marketers can put their own affiliate link inside it so they can spread it for you and get rewarded themselves.

Try interstitials - not as annoying/intrusive as popups yet higher cpm than other on-page cpm ads.

I don't think i want to have what you're smoking

Maybe you need to step up the scandal with your ads.

Have you considered the fling/ashley madison type ads?

If your sites are like most sites of the nature you're describing, there's probably a ton of dudes coming to look at hot girls. As they're feeling slightly horny, sell them on a "no string attached" casual sex fantasy.

Also, have you considered trying to use all this traffic to build an enormous list which you could then use to market them different shit or even sell it to advertisers who want to market to your demographic(s)?

I like the idea of "featured posts" in the sidebar that link to a bunch of advertorials. Stuff like "4' Midget Gets Model to Suck His Dick" selling some scandalous "pick up" product would probably be disruptive enough to get the right visitors attention. If your copy doesn't suck, they might just buy too. Acne rebills would probably work. If you have a lot of female traffic, try breast enlargement rebills. The key here is having sufficiently compelling titles that will catch the interest of your extremely fickle visitors.

In short, you need to step up the level of aggressiveness of your advertising. Yes, their friends are sharing your site because they liked the content, but your main concern for each new visitor should be to make you money. As a result, you need to distract them away from the content itself and to the shit you actually want them to pay attention to.

This may make your sites less "viral," but if you're not selling a decent amount of media, I'm not sure why you'd care.

If you want to take a more traditional approach (e.g. selling media), hit up my homies at isocket, put your inventory on their network and let advertisers bid for your CPMs (another EXTREMELY well known viral site network sells 100% of their media through their network. I'm not sure if its secret, but just in case I won't say publicly).

Edit: I guess its no secret since its open to the public: https://www.isocket.com/website/i-can-has-cheezburger
