How I failed as a business owner

I don't know if I believe your story, why not just get a new host for now and contact your clients privately? You're not running an organization that depends on 'the server', you're selling people links. Let's not over-dramatize here.

IE what are you 'protecting'? Trying to get your domain up? Move on to a new domain and have your host capture the packets from the attack because with that info you can either make his life miserable enough to stop DDoSing you or give that info to the FBI and tell them to take action to protect their boss(you, as taxpayer)

Either way story sounds cooked up from a guy who sells people links. BRB repairing my servers! BRB my SERVERS are down, brb need to get my SERVER up. Just say your site's down -- and this shouldn't put a dent into your business since you just said that you do all of your marketing on WickedFire. So how is having your 'server'(website) down stopping you from delivering links/continuing on in business?

Too stupid not to be banned...

Ballin its more to it than that. But anyways Im just reaching out for ideas and such. Like I said, I didn't know how this post would be received, but I felt like I owed people more of an explanation. I never said I would give up, but some advice would be nice.

Did you try rackspace? A bbgame I used to play switched to them after a couple of big time attacks/.

I can recommend Rackspace as well. Had several servers with them over the years. Expensive, but top notch support, and they know their stuff. Expect a strict TOS though. Can't do anything shady on their network.

Not saying what happened to OTWU is right but he is a whiny bitch who was wwwaaaayyyy too full of himself and his shit services. I wouldn't and don't wish anything bad on anyone but as they say what goes around comes around.

fell your pain man, would hate to be on the receiving end of an orchestrated ddos attack. It's a real big threat for us, and that's why I never advertise on sites on any forums where I talk about political/social/controversial stuff, because shit can go down.

I guess in your case it's unavoidable because you make your living from here.

At least my duplicate links aren't up anymore... how are you gonna handle for what you got paid for, your private wiki network as this links aren't alive anymore ?

I paid twice for your packages and you sold the wikis as parts of the package in the the second purchase, now beside you did not even deliver what you advertised with duplicate content shit and stuff, you're also unable to keep the properties you sell links on alive.

Nobody fuckin cares about why, it's just a fact you can't keep them alive and how you handle customers money as customers are the most important thing to you as you told us so often. Beside that, how can you know that this (D)Dos attacks are all from the same source ? What gives the customers who paid guarantee you are not looking for excuses only or are just trying to reduce business costs ?

After I posted in your thread about what shit you are selling and about my experience with your package, seriously I doubt this is real ongoing (D)Dos or whatever and getting more and more thinking about other things this could be connected to. You declined my refund when I asked for it. Everything in life balances. I got banned because you accused me of getting something for free although I only posted true facts abour your crap packages. You accused me of being involved in all that stuff. And on and on...

My business got hurt because of you selling crap too. Bottom line is that I really feel sorry for people losing their business if it's not their fault, but in your example, you did really everything to make me and others (as others posted already) don't feel sorry for you as you sold advertising fake facts and managed my and other websites to drop in rankings too (as for example Grindstone proved in his review too in the other thread).

Block his host.
Block all the offending IPs.
Block his entire country.
and don't give up so easy because I know nobody will be buying anything from him anymore.

and FYI - you shouldn't be paying "damages" to someone. This sort of shit comes with the game. I've had stuff like that happen to me x 10 with no ill affects. How do you know it wasn't a Panda update shift?

Hey 070707 -- Unfortunately this wasn't a situation where he built a high quality linkwheel and then it was just unlucky or whatever that my site got hit. There were multiple fuck ups on his part. Not only were the anchors + the pages they were linking to fucked and wrong, the content that he used was posted 3 times...so basically there were hundreds and hundreds of links to our site with the wrong anchors, from duplicate content. It really isn't a scenario where it was just an unfortunate circumstance. It was pure negligence.

If, for example, he was building a deck in my back yard, it would be the equivalent of him building the deck improperly because he rushed the job, and then having it completely collapse. In that scenario, he would be sued.

seiux - We know your incident was an isolated incident where your articles got posted 3 times to each website. We tried to help by sending you 1k in damage for the sandboxing, and i don't know what else to say except i'm sincerely sorry. You and I both know that it wasn't done intentionally.

Unfortunately, the $1,000 you sent us is a small number compared to the monetary damage that has been done. I do know that it wasn't dont intentionally and I wouldn't accuse you of doing something like that. Unfortunately, it doesn't change what actually happened and based on what I've seen it doesn't really matter to me if it was intentional or not -- what was done was pure negligence/incompetence, whatever you want to call it and it is completely unacceptable. And again, it wasn't just me who was affected by this, but Pasha (who had recommended you) as well. He's been working for me for free for the past month to fix the damage that you caused.

Anyway, I hope you get your site network back up and get past this DOS shit, as now Jest's DOS attacks are causing issues with us trying to fix all of this bullshit. This has been a personal fucking nightmare for me (as I am sure it has been for you) and I am looking forward to it (hopefully) ending.

lol at these people doing blackhat SEO then getting mad when their rankings drop...

Yeah, it's like building a deck... Without a permit from the city.

What you encountered was not a DDOS, it was a DOS which can be stopped with a single command (just adding a firewall rule to drop all incoming packets from that particular IP). So, don't say you were "DDOS"ed, because you were just "DOS"ed

Even a kid can launch DOS using even a legal benchmarking tool such as Apache Benchmark

And obviously your competitor was also an IT retard as he launched it from his server IP

Sounds like DDoS to me. A single IP taking down the network? Gotta be distributed via a botnet of some sort.

Fuck this thread and FUCK YOU deshea

Do NOT stop fighting brother. You have not exhausted all options and I refuse to believe you are ready to give up yet.

Pick your head up and get back in the ring for a few more rounds. NEVER give up this easily. EVER.

Incorrect anchors from dup. content? Boo fucking hoo.

A refund? Sure. Damages? Get the fuck out of here.

Could haven't said it any better than:

I guess I will leave it at that. Not my work, not my customer, but for some reason it aggravates me. You are in good hands now though, that is for sure.

I think you're still misunderstanding. I understand the risks of blackhat SEO. But what we ordered was not what was provided. It was not done correctly.

Again, fuck the permit from the city. It's like asking someone to build a deck for you, and instead having them bulldoze your house and saying woops, sorry bro, here's 1% of your houses value, good luck.

I don't really know how to make it any more clear than that. If he had set it up correctly, the way he said he would, and we lost ranking, i wouldn't be pissed at all. But this is completely different.
