I was trying to decide whether I was going to post this or not, because I'm going to get flamed either way. But I look at this as a business experience with a lesson learned. Hopefully someone else can learn from my situation.
I lost $8k to a competitor. In a matter of 2-3 weeks. At first I thought it was childish games like normal kids play, and that it would end in time.
Nope, I lost $8k trying to fix a ddos attack I was receiving from Nanexo. That shit was so powerful, it took $5k between hosting costs, the security "guru" costs to have it look into what the problems could be, and a nother 3k in refunds. And after everytime we thought we had it fixed, it would come back doublethe strength as before. It got so bad, that my network kicked me off because it was bringing down the entire network. Not just my dedicated server, but my hosting company's entire network.
Now, all i can possibly do is find another host, but the problem is that many networks aren't going to want to get near the network, + all it takes is for one client to give nanexo the domain list and he'll be at it again.
So now, I have to spend all my time, + in the middle of moving to a new house, trying to find a host that won't be either a ripoff due to the lack of ddos protection they have, or won't completely ignore me.
So Nanexo, you win. Man to man, you win. Whatever I did to you that pissed you off that much, then maybe I deserved it.
So how did I fail as a business owner? I depended too much on wickedfire for my business, and not enough on expanding within other markets. Maybe I didn't treat other providers fairly, i'm not sure.
So flame away, lol. I'm only being real about the situation. Nobody else get's this shit - you try and tell this to your family and their just lost. At least anyone with a business online knows the ups and downs you go through, no one gets that if they don't know much about computers.
But yea, I'm still trying to find the right server, but its a ton of calls and emails i have to deal with, so hopefully i'll be back soon or something. Right now, I'm at a loss for words. I've been through hell and back this past 3 weeks. My body can't take this stress any longer. That's why I had to write this, to get this shit off my back that everyone's been questioning me and asking me about.
To all my clients: As soon as I find the right host to help with the attacks, your packages will be completed. PM me for information.
Mods: I never meant no disrespect to you guys, even in this post. I shouldn't have bombarded you guys with pms and all the drama I created a few weeks back. That was uncalled for, and I shouldn't have done that. You guys are doing a great job with the site, so mad respect to you guys.
To anyone else, if you have a hosting company that may be able to deal with ddos attacks from the network side and not the server side only, then hit me up via pm. Anyone that knows about ddos protection services that aren't too expensive, just hit me up with the information so I can check it out.
Anyone with ANY ideas, just hit me up. I'll (and my security "guru") will try anything out.
