ive been reading blogs of affiliate marketers and they claim to work 50-60 hours per week.

my experience is very different (and definitely one reason i am no where nearly as succesful). i haven't done anything the past week. i've been waiting for three days for a designer to send me his payment information

this is how it seems to be for me...waiting for programmers and designers to do work...sometimes i modify sites (ads, linking layout, etc.)...but this usually adds up to 30 minutes a day...

i find myself with _a lot_ of free time, viewing useless sites like digg

my question is

a) how does your typical day go?
b) what is some productive work i could do if i find myself with free time?

I work 9-5 as an SEO consultant, when I get home I work on my own client work and after that I work on my own personal work. Then it's off to sleep. Plus whilst I'm travelling the bus to and from work I study about programming, marketing, design, anything that can help me get where I want to go.

On weekends, it's back to personal projects. I love this stuff.

Alot of the guys saying that in blogs i bet spend alot of time reading forums and sitting on there ass looking at ppc stats like alot of us, i never really call it hard work compared to manual labour work its nothing. Free time i spend OFFLINE dont wanna start looking pale and ill like people who spend to much time inside.

I'm more of an afternoon person, that's when I get most of my work done. In the mornings (8:30 to 11:00) I'll browse forums, do updates, research etc.

I work 9:30-6:00 Monday thru Friday as a website designer, so I spend a fare number of hours on the computer - which kinda sucks... and they aren't even for my own sites! haha
When I get home I cook dinner and check my email / stagnant adsense reports - I would much rather work for myself fulltime and lose the design job but right now I just cannot afford to. I also jog around a lake trail 4x per week and go to the gym 3x a week. That's probably the highlight of my day, right there, since I am single at the moment and have no real reponsibilities other than my car and paying bills on time. Nice to have freedom but it also means that now is the prime time to step up to the plate and take this money making thing seriously, :)

I usually spend the first 3-5 hours of my work day updating my site (http://www.collegedowntime.com), then after that I work on building more traffic. After that I'm usually working on other projects and then I'm off to the gym and relaxing for the rest of the day.

sometimes i wish i had a site that needed to be constantly updated like yours...that way i would always have something to do

Hi relimited, I can relate to your post big time. There are some differences. I do alot of print work as a full-time graphic designer. I like checking my adsense and cj when the bosses are out. :) They don't question me much and I often deal with clients directly.

My TV gets dusty. I read alot of obscure literature most people wouldn't give the time of day. At the moment I'm pretty well obsessed with occultism and mysticism. This isn't something I usually advertise on web forums and since I'm a member of a tolerant site called "wicked fire" perhaps this fits quite nicely with dogmatic judgments of the ignorant --->things I don't understand = wicked (something evil) + fire (going to hell).

Na, I hear you there... Anton Szandor Lavey, and Aleister Crowley are great Occult writers. :pimp:

I just sit around, read, watch tv, type stuff, talk to people, reply to posts....ocassionally go for a walk with my dad & dog.......i wanna exercise bike tho, so i can sit, read, and exercise at the same time :P

Wheres the fun there, never go out and get mashed on drugs and booze? We got some real cool clubs down here in London, i know from visiting Sydney its all pretty good there aswell.

i dunno if ur serious, but drugs are for retards, and all my friends who drink seem really depressed all the time.

Everyone has there own opinions, dont knock it untill youve tried it as the saying goes..

drugs = no benefits :/
i understand drinking (not binge drinkin tho) - but drugs just kill you....it's so pointless. all the emo kids take drugs, binge drink and smoke...fkin emos.

[/end rant]

Im in no way emo we dont really have many emos down here. There is no long term benefit for sure. But short term, can be fun. Not all drugs kill, ecstasy for example over here has maybe 1 death a year and thats down to a bad body reaction, which is rare with most people. But yeah its down to your lifestyle and what kind of crowd of friends you grew up with in my opinion.

Well, i'm a procrastinator...
I found this site on Digg.
I check adsense...
Play with other stuff...plan sites, watse time surfing...get some stuff done, plan read, think think think,
*gotta get outta tha house!* so now i'm doing some painting for a friend....
workin on some new sites now, developing a few blogs.....

back to top of post....sleep.....go to the bar between 1 & 3 times a week.

check adsense aagain.

A cool feature of the human body is the "built in drugs" like adrenaline and endorphins. I admit to tinkering with drugs in the past...I've even tried obscure stuff like salvia divinorum and blue lotus (drank with wine by the ancient egyptians). My reasoning is I'm curious about different states of consciousness.

I'm very tame these days. I'll drink tons of beer and get piss drunk here and there. I rarely partake of the spliff. I can achieve ecstasy simply with the use of my mind - its just requires patience, hard work and a bit of luck.
