I had my own site that I built to get someextra customers then some one else said you should put some adsense on there to get some beer money -the rest is history

I had a Tony Hawk fan site which was getting a bunch of traffic at the time, I put some banner ads up and watched the cash come in. Richest middleschooler around at the time.

Haha... one of the innocent ones. You were just making a fan site about someone you idolized and it made you a ton of money. You didn't come into the game thinking "money money money".

haha, nope. I had absolutely no intentions of making a living from it. 6 or 7 years later, I don't know where I'd be without it. The internet has been such a huge influence in my life... for the better, believe it or not.

I originally wanted to enter the web design & development world, but some "Goddamn, look how much money Aspen is making!!!" threads at Sitepoint made me change my mind.

Before I made my first content website I had a very brief one week try at affiliate marketing and it stunk. I thought I knew what I was doing, but I didn't. This year I went back and have been promoting various things and have done much better.

I started out in the web hosting business. I decided that it was way too much time and stress for the money and started looking for other opportunities. I stumbled around for a while buying and selling domains and marketing affiliate programs via PPC.

Then I stumbled across Chris Beasley's site, www.websitepublisher.net , put in a lot of hard hours studying, experimenting, and building sites, and the rest is history. :)

By mistake, once i started and made my first sale i was hooked.
That first sale is addictive - the bigger the sale the more hooked you can get - you end up checking your stats every 5 mins incase you get another one

I always go though the checking the stats every 5 min when I launch a new site. That and the server logs to see if/when it's getting crawling. Then constantly hitting up the SE's to see if it's been listed.

I had a pretty big website with a couple of thousand visitors a day and discovered AdSense. I started making some money and a bit later I found the Webmasterworld forum and learned a lot about AdSense and affiliate programs. That's how I discovered it :)

Haha the big money makers can be a big influence on career choice, that's for sure.
