If you want free traffic there is some ways except SEs.
For example youtube.com gives you tone of traffic for free.
Social media can, but I don't know much about it.
Free traffic generators like: ezmlm or easyhits4u
 
Social bookmarking. Do it right. Do it manually. You'll get traffic.

Want adult traffic? Go to porn board or image boards and start posting good pictures and just put your link in a signature or your name (they'll go to your site looking for more!!!)

But really... Social media, it is not going to happen overnight but if you slowly grow your following with some good posts that people want to see then you'll start to see some traffic.
 
Here's a few:

Social Media. Huge subject here, and mostly free but could be time consuming.
Video Media (YouTube/Vimeo). Learn how to optimize your titles and tags to get the views and search results you want. Insert URL in video and description. Piggyback off of popular videos. Google loves showing video results for search topics.
Guerrilla Marketing. This is a vast subject, you gotta do the research and brainstorming.
Newsjack some popular news articles. I call this piggybacking as well.

- Trade articles with the blogger (so that they get to post an article on your blog too).

- Use the blog owner's affiliates links in your article, so that they make money when their readers buy a product.
