Just thought I'd make this thread of my thoughts on various hosts I've used.

Host Gator
http://www.hostgator.com
  • My Personal Favourite
  • Great Support
  • Very Cost-Effect; Cheap for what you get
  • First Month Costs 1c using a coupon
  • Great Uptime
1.) Coupon Code - "iceishot" - $9.94 Off

2.) Coupon code "jury" - $9.94 Off

3.) Coupon code "hgc25" - $9.94 Off

4.) Coupon code "Hostcritique" - $9.94 Off

Host Rocket
http://www.hostrocket.com
  • Kind of pricey
  • Great Support
  • Very Reliable
Silverlime
http://www.silverlime.ca
  • Cheap
  • Not Unlimited Domains :(
  • Not the best support, takes a few days for responses.
  • Don't rush you for payments :D
I'll try to add more mini-reviews later. Feel free to post your own and I'll edit it into this post.

We could just each post our own experiences...

Aetherihosting
www.aetherihosting.com
-Lots of downtime
-Tailored to support the newest technologies/languages
-Developing their own control panel supposedly

SolarVPS
www.solarvps.com
-Premium price
-Very reliable
-VPS accounts are unmanaged unless you pay for a service plan
-Not running the latest Centos or VZ versions but probably more stable because of this

JaguarPC
www.jaguarpc.com
-Great packages for the price, good overall value
-Support included for VPS accounts
-Great specials almost every month
-Technically their techs are a bit shaky, oftentimes a bit difficult to work with
-Not as stable or running as smoothly as SolarVPS

Bluewho
www.bluewho.com
-Was a highly rated reseller host until being bought out maybe a year or so ago. Then problems left and right

Pair.com
www.pair.com
-Use their own control panel, not any of the more popular ones out there
-Pricey
-Very good uptime and support was good as I recall
-Very good reputation

Mediatemple
www.mediatemple.net
-Shared hosting somewhat limited (PHP safe mode on, can't turn off)
-24 hour phone support (yes really, and they're competent)
-If you need to run a lot of scripts that need various features the basic shared plan probably won't cut it

Dreamhost is outstanding. Use the code "777" and get 20GB disk, 1TB bw for like $9 for an entire year. Amazingly, you also get a free domain with that.

For anyone starting out they're absolutely the way to go.

I like Dreamhost as well and they offer crazy amounts of bandwith and disk storage and unlimited domains even with the cheapest plan. I went with something like "dreamhost promo codes" on google to see what I could find and got, if I remember correctly, a full $97 discount for one year hosting.

Hostgator is my current host, and Ive been nothing but pleased.

Godaddy was my first host, but it really didnt have many features at all. You get what you pay for with bargain hosting. Never any issues, but just not many features.

I wish this board had a rep system, because I sure do want to give you some right now. :)

dreamhost.com
hostgator.com

i've also had luck with pair and serverbeach, but there are better deals to be found.

That's weird, cos hostgator is awesome for me.
that is odd... those are the two budget hosts with squeeky clean reps among thousands of horrible ones. aside from pair (rather expensive), i don't know who has a better rep.

Very nice finding :D, how is their support is it same like hostgator ? i guess their deals are way too cheap.

MisterX can you let us know the code for one year discount ? :D

Hostgator is good too, I should have mentioned that I've had good experiences with them.

I've only used Dreamhost's support a couple of times, but I've found them to be pretty helpful.
