I have a big appreciation for single-shot cinematography, and saw this up on Reddit today. It's a 6-minute short story about the history of Johnnie Walker, which is equally awesome. Definitely belongs here.

Made me nervous just thinking about how much it would suck to fuck up a line/timing like 4 minutes in. Very well done.

Sometimes I think to myself, "Would living several generations ago be more enjoyable?" I then think, "Well, as long as there's gorgeous women and alcohol, I think I'd be happy."

Sometimes I wish everyone would cooperatively say "fuck it" and go back to living off the land. I'm drunk as shit right now.

boatBurner, I think you'll like this piece:

Awesome share, I haven't seen that movie or scene before.

For anyone else who likes this style of cinematography, Children of Men is still my favorite movie for its cinematography. (Warning: Spoilers)

Joe Wright is a frustrating director. He has great storytelling chops and a lot of talent. But he uses cheap, sophomoric tricks to get attention. That's what makes his material frustrating. It's easy to dismiss a guy like Michael Bay because he sucks. But Wright is actually good.

Incidentally, Atonement is a glossy film with some great segments, including the long shot in my previous post. But it's far from perfect.

Alfonso Cuarón is one of the best storytellers working right now. :)

By the way, regarding shot length, I've heard that the average shot length in Tony Scott's Domino was under 2 seconds. Michael Bay's Armageddon comes in around 2.3 or 2.4 seconds.

Haha... what a mess.

So Johnny Walker joint ventured with captains of boats and that was how he spread his bottles across the world, pretty cool.

Sounds like it was just good, smart advertising that really got them moving forward.

What's interesting is that same smart ad strategy is still working for them today, really good video. Telling the story of your brand is a pretty powerful.
