Fuck man .. I hired this chinese guy to do this scripting for me .. pissed me off big times, lesson to me and everybody else, make sure the guy you hire can speak 100% fluent english and also your project details is 100% specific

First time I used scriptlance, and that is my lesson, wasted $35

the thing that pissed me off is this is for a design client that i charged 400 and now i have spent in excess of that amount because i keep managing to hire ppl who cant get the job done

A $35 coder was bad?

Who would have thought?

I'm thinking the same thing...not to be harsh, but what kind of serious script can you possibly be looking for for $35 ?!

Word of advice : ALWAYS use the scriptlance escrow service! You will get your money back if the programmer does NOT complete the project. The only thing you will lose is time.

Well, making sure the programmer speaks english sounds like good advice.

However, speaking as a coder here...

Yes, make SURE that your specs are 100% airtight. When a programmer gets specs, he will develop EXACTLY what is written down. No more, no less.
If he works in your company, or is a friend, or gets paid a decent amount, he'd probably struggle to make ends meet.
If you are a foreign contractor paying a measly wage, you can be pretty sure he will

a) Do ONLY what is in the contract.
b) Develop what is in the contract the easiest, most time-effective way.

There is a lesson in there, but it is not "stupid Chinese MOFOs".

Just my :2twocents:

it was a small modification to an existing script .. I released the funds anyways, the guy seemed desperate

that comment was worseless

You gave him money because he played the desperare role. So now you're the bitch, not him! There are no sympathies or emotions when it comes to business, otherwise you start giving out cash, however big or small to people and places that don't deserve it. You hired him to do something, he didn't do it, and you paid him anyway. You lost, he won. Learn to control your emotions and do what's right for the project or business, even if it means that some guy in China won't get his $35. :ak:

If he didn't complete the job, but you felt the need to give him $35 anyway, you should have got him to do some job that he *could* perform for you, so at least it was worth it. Get him to do some menial task that you can't be bothered to do.
