Hacker is hitting my financials and blackmailing. What can I do?

Hey guys,

Its been a while since I posted here but I figure some of you might have had a similar experience. Hopefully I can get some good help because I really am in a bind.

This all started a couple days ago. I woke up in the morning to find that my main email address was hacked. I had no way to access it. I still have been unable to access it since. Through using my email, they were able to basically recover all the passwords to many of my online business accounts. Namecheap, godaddy, paypal accounts, the planet, etc.

This guy stole all my domains (I recovered them), purchased thousands of dollars of internet expenses with my credit cards (also recovered that money). He also changed a file on one of my membership sites and replaced his paypal subscription button with mine. I didn't notice until today, but that means 4 days of payments have been going to him.

I was able to obtain their IP because they logged into my server, and I have the logs. I traced the IP back to Canada. I had worked with a person several years ago (he hacked me back then) and I knew they lived in the location this IP traced to, so I figured it was them. I sent him a message on facebook, and he admitted to it all.

This person is now blackmailing me for a payment of $600 (chump change, but I would rather spend $10,000 putting him in jail then giving him a dime). He has stated he will keep attacking me unless I pay him. He has also tried blackmailing me by saying he was hired to hack me and will turn over my financial information (bank and credit cards) to his employer unless I pay him this $600. I am 90% sure he is full of shit, but regardless he is blackmailing me and threatening to give/sell my financial data.

The problem is he lives in Canada, and I am an American. I am not sure where I should go from here. I plan on calling his local police station in the morning, but I doubt they will take this seriously.

This guy is threatening my livelihood. I need to do something. I have his phone number, his full name, his parents phone numebers, pictures of him, the city he lives in, and an admission of guilt.

What do you guys suggest I do?
 


Because the FBI doesn't care. Still, contact the FBI, ICE, the RCMP, local police in his city and your city. See who cares enough to respond and work from there.
 
Its serious crossborder financial hacking. Several agencies should care.

Then he added blackmail. Across countries borders and while admitting guilt.

Save all files and records. Document and think like a police officer.

Stay clean and dont get a record for this prick.
 
there's absolutely nothing you can do. the hacker is obviously a stupid skiddy seeing he can't even cover tracks.
 
PM me the info, if he lives near by I'll think of a lump sum you can pay me to take care of him.

1) hacker is apparently didn't even use any anonymous track covering measures for using CC.
2) hacker "admits" to hacking
3) hacker now blackmails OP for more money.

WTF ???

also how did you go from hacker's IP address --> address --> facebook ?

I'm gunna have to charge extra for gas in that case.

Also, for the drive by, I charge extra if you want me to use colored water balloons vs. white.

On a more serious note, I am looking for some serious suggestions rather than a baseball bat and a trip to Canada. Perhaps there is anyone who knows a good lawyer for this kind of stuff?
 
Start looking into Wire Fraud.

Or, you can call local escorts and send them to his address or his parents house lol.

I don't think he was too concerned with his anonymity being as his plan the entire time was to blackmail me for money.

I got "from his IP address to address" through an IP trace. As mentioned in the OP, the city was familiar because of the past. I contacted the person who I thought was hacking me based on the address, and he admitted it.
