Unfortunately, it doesn't always work like that - except on TV. There is a big misconception of inmate justice and all that nonsense. Those are exceptions to the rule. The rule is, monsters like that will sit around all day playing cards, watching TV and working out on the yard. In fact - child molesters are almost never bothered because they are normally housed with other child molesters (not relevant to this case, but it's another common misconception). The reality is, most people in prison have an outdate, and they don't want to fuck it up by carrying out punishments on other prisoners, no matter how deserved.
That being said, situations like this make me wish I believed in heaven and hell.
