Been wondering, whats to stop Google browsing the Links & SEO section, buying 1 of each of all the packages, analysing the links from each, and penalising all the domains? Its pretty much the hub for link trading on tinternetz :ticking:

If google were to do as you said, whats to stop me from buying a link package for the site that is #1 in google for my niche? (my competition) Google would then penalise that site for having a bad link profile even though it was me that bought the links for them.

In essence you could take down all your competition by simply buying them link packages from here and watch google penalise them. Thats what mattseh meant.

Yea thats a good point, makes sense. I was just thinking in the way Google had been devaluing certain types of link in recent months etc. Perhaps they could analyse the packages that people are using and look for trends, then conclude that most packages have a certain type of link, and then fuck that type of link. I guess I'm just overanalsying, perhaps the time and effort involved is too much for Google, they're too busy bringing out new products that noone needs.

^^ They do it everyday.

Just this year about 4-5 link networks got deindexed/lost PR.

Profile and blog comment links don't work as well anymore etc.

Or they could be losing pr from crappy spammy content

Because otherwise you could buy packages for your competitors.

Who's to say this isn't possible? What we don't know can't hurt us or Google. Site rankings may drop but we have no way of connecting the dots and saying Google literally purchased link packages to improve their flagging algorithms.
