Is there anything better than google analytics to use? And also, other than the stats software what else should be added to my sites?

"What else should be added to my sites" is a pretty broad question, so I will just stick to the anaytics...

You can use AWstats and the free version of Sitemeter. I used sitemeter until I hit a bug it had with IE. They likey have it fixed now, but it bothere me enough to switch to analytics.

If you want to pay, there is haveamint.com at like 30 a site...

Mostly people seem afraid to have google host all their site data, so they avoid it.

Thx 4 the reply..when I said "What else should be added to my sites" I meant is there anything else like stats that should be added to every site. I'm sure people add stats to every site they put up, so just wondering if there is anything else I should add also.

I'm not looking to pay anything at the moment since I'm starting out, so would google analytics be the best free option?

Analytics is free and easy -- so far so good for me.

You will want to have an xml sitemap for your sites for search engines to crawl them. There is a WP plugin and a site that will generate them.

k thx! really helpful since I'm setting my sites up with a wordpress backend so I'll look for the sitemap plugin.

I've been looking at Prosper202 (.com) as a google analytics alternative, especially for BH stuff since it's self hosted, but I haven't tried it yet. They also have a hosted version called Tracking202, both are free afaik.

Prosper202 seems like something that would be installed along side analytics.. but I see it says its for PPC tracking. Is there a reason to use Prosper202 if I'm not doing any ppc at the moment?

Yes I've used both - I personally like Clicky more. They both offer similar stats, while Clicky is real-time and G Analytics is not.

Your best bet is to try them both out and see what works for your needs.

Thx for all the recommendations n help! I decided to go on and pay for clicky after a little trial. Great service
