Webmonkey used to be decent... but their stuff now is just horrible, very outdated. I use w3schools to refrence the simple stuff when i don't remember off the top of my head. I also use php.net a lot for php functions.

Im of the mind if youre serious about really learning a language, you should have at least one book. Might not be the case for everyone, but I find at least having a book as a reference is very handy.

Books are good for developed languages like C++, C#, pearl, phython, whatever. But much of this web stuff develops so fast that it is hard for any conventional print books to keep up. There are also so many references online that it is just as easy to hit up google. I think it's faster to just search for what you're trin' to find on G than to flip through a paper book.

I think they do update it.
they do, but not very often, and not with up-to-date articles or tutorials like they used to. They let that site go to shit.

Oh absolutly. But I think whatever language you choose a book gives a good base of reference. Theres no way to keep up with the technologies other than reading as it happens.
