Good Bye Firefox

^ SRWare Iron is nothing more than a re-branded build of Chromium. The creator of Iron has been quoted many times saying he made Iron to make money off of people who have Google Fear and don't understand what Chromium is.

If you want Chrome without the Google Big Brother factor, just use Chromium.

Good info to have, thanks! Off to un-install Iron and install Chromium :)

Installed Chromium, giving it a run. Anyone know how I can zoom text only like in Firefox? There was a plugin I ran across but it didn't work. Love the zoom hate when the images start getting distorted.

Edit: I'm also well aware that I can change my font settings, but I like to adjust per page, as the layout of a page plays a huge part in the process.

Goodbye FF.......hello predecessor........Sometimes newer is not FASTER!!

I feel the same way :SIGH: time to say goodbye to :

I think that I will stay in the family though. Lulz

Here's an oldie that is is still pretty quick:

...............................in Windows 98 SE that is!!! LOL

BTW if FireBird gets too slow I'll downgrade (=FASTER as well???? DK) again to Mozzilla Phoenix!!!

Thanks for the Lulz!! I needed a break for a few. But srsly, the Firebird is Portable and really does HAUL ASS on Win 98. Much faster than the highest version of FF that can run on that OS.

BTW, Phoenix is SLOWER than Firebird.

If you want Chrome without the Google Big Brother factor, just use Chromium.

Chrome - Perfect browser for someone who wants fast browsing with a minimalist theme.

Chromium - Perfect for someone who wants a bleeding edge version of Chrome without Google's watch.

Firefox - Bloated and only good for people who are addicted to particular extensions.

Opera - Pretty awesome, but too ugly to actually use.

IE - Because you have a shitty job.

Is Chromium faster than Safari?

After a days use, Firefox is still WAY better then chromium.

Chomium suffers from development malnourishment yet. One day maybe, but sure as hell not yet.

For all you saying that Firefox is a resource hog I found that Firefox actually runs with less resources than Chrome, at least on my machine. Maybe it has something to do with running it in a sandbox, but I've not been impressed.

[rant] Anyone that says Chrome is faster than FF....upgrade your damned computers! It's not the dark ages of 32-bit anymore. You can get a PC with 6gb of ram, 1tb HD, and a nice Core i5 processor for around $700 if you know what you're doing. Those of you still using old ass Intel Pentium Dual Core/Pentium D PC's with 3gb of ram that you just "upgraded" need to STFU. If you know what you're doing and can afford a nice barebone from TigerDirect you can get a PC with 8gb of ram and a Core i7 processor for not much more (after it's fully put together). If you have a decent computer and you still think FF is slower than Chrome, get rid of goddamned Norton and clean up your fucking computer.

P.S. If you want my recommendation on the best computer you can buy right now (if you don't know how to build your own or customize a barebone), go with this:

This is one kickass computer. You can get a better deal if you know how to build one yourself, but this baby is upgradeable to 16gb of ram. I'd prefer to see at least 24gb, but for the price you definitely can't complain. So all you peeps out there with 2 and 3gb of ram complaining about FF being slow...stop. It's just because you're so behind the times and/or your computer is an infected piece of shit. If you're actually making sooooo much money through internet marketing as you claim, put your money where your mouth is and upgrade your computers instead of bitching about a perfectly good program being "slow." [/rant]

I have 12gb, an i7 and FF is a piece of shit. It's not that our computers can't run it, but why pick something bloated and slower?

If chrome is faster, it'll be faster no matter the computer.

Recommending anything by HP is auto-fail.

Google is watching you regardless. If you're not using Chrome, you're either using Gmail, Youtube, Gtalk, Android, Adsense, Adwords or any of their gazillion products. They just pwn your ass, whether you want it or not...

yeah.. i dont think so.. chrome is ok for testing.. but firefox is what i use to access all secure sites..

whos the F** future...??? i dont even know we are jerking hard enough to get past 2012..

What? There is something WRONG with your system.

I don't have a totally kick ass rig (yet does anything I could want), and FF runs great. Intel Q6600 (2.4 GHz Quad core) not overclocked at all, 4 GB of DDR2-800 Mhz ram (stock stuff that came in my last Dell which is 2 years old), and an NVIDIA GTX 275 graphics card.

So don't give me some bullshit that Chrome is all that, because it isn't. When/if Chome ever catches up I'd switch but it's simply not there yet.

I use chrome to browse the web, because it's fast... And I use firefox for any development or campqigns or whatever due to the sick plugins. Is it that hard to understand

I was waiting for that. Computer trends go up and down retard. Dell used to suck cock back in 2002-2004. HP was God awful in 2005-2007. Gateway has sucked since 2005. Right now Dell and HP are on an upwards trend. Based on previous data however, they're both due for a crash. If you buy a Dell or HP today, it'll be a great computer and will run without problems for two decades if you maintain it properly. Gateway is about to go up again, but they're not there yet. Surprisingly eMachines had a good year in 2009. They're back to being shit now though. I should know. I'm a certified computer repair technician and I have many contacts in the industry. We know exactly what brand of computer to buy and what time to buy them is. The reasons for these kind of trends is the computer manufacturers try to go on the cheap and get slapped on the ass. Then they change their ways for a few years and then try to go cheap again and get slapped once more. The data from the past 20 years tells us that they will most likely continue this trend indefinitely. Right now I'm seeing more Gateway's than I can even count because they've been crap for the past 5 years. I'm not saying that EVERYONE that owns a Gateway will be affected, but a lot of people will. At the present time, I recommend an HP. I wouldn't buy one in a year or two because of my recommendation though. Talk to me again then. Chances are I'll be promoting Gateway in a couple of years. I'm not a dumbass biased sack of crap that just sticks to one computer brand and endorses it because of the good luck I've had with it. I analyze data based on what I see on a daily basis and give recommendations based on logical trends. It works. I've been doing it for more than a decade.

Just tried FF 4.0 beta. As expected most of the plugins were not compatiable. Went back to 3.6.8. The Chrome, Chromium, Iron etc. speed just can't take the place of FF swiss army knife approach. Got to have my core plugins.
