Either way the research is overwhelmingly in favor of a whole foods plant based diet as one of the healthiest diets.

Sorry, there is nothing "overwhelming" about any of the evidence for ANY diet that is out there right now. Yes, there is evidence that vegan diets are better than the average American diet, but the average person's diet is shit. Anybody who starts making conscious choices about the food they eat will see immediate drops in mortality, cancer, and diabetes. Those features are not unique to going vegan, they are the result of not shoveling a liter of soda and 2,000 calories of Doritos down your gullet every day.

There is no scientific consensus on what diet is healthiest.
