Just went to buy a .com and they want £6.85 for the domain and £6.05 for the private registration. £12.90 seems a bit steep to me. :( Have they upped their prices lately?

I've got most of my stuff with godaddy and would like to keep it that way if possible. yes, namecheap is what is says. Cheap. But anyone else noticed a big price rise on Godaddy lately?

Godaddy has always been a little more, but if you use the right coupons you can get some good deals.

If you want to buy a few domains, here is an awesome post about basically getting privacy for free. I did the trick myself so I can vouch for it working.

"Get FREE Whoisguard subscriptions with *every* new domain name registration or transfer. No forms to fill! No codes to find! The subscription will be automatically added after successful domain registration or transfer.. There's more.. subscription is not tied to the domain you buy and you can use it with ANY domain in your account."

Question about this paragraph from NameCheap. Surely if you buy their domain and they don't automatically add it to your new domain, you will have a domain history record that shows you owned the domain at some stage, right?

one thing about namecheap that drives me nutz is that their DNS takes forever to propegate

i've been godaddy for a while, but after all the positives about namecheap i'm thinking about switching now... i'm getting sick of paying $16 for a domain with private registration

It's always been lightning fast for me, most of the time it's right away. I think maybe once it took like 2 hours but that's been pretty rare.

I prefer NameCheap too, but from time to time I use GoDaddy, since I don't want to keep all my domains at one registrar. RegisterFly anyone?

The coupon promo749 gives you a $3 discount on .com domains.
This coupon never expires.

The coupon cjctld749 saves you minimum $3 on .net, .org and .biz.
This coupon expires November 30.

it's also pretty quick for me as well, usually within 30 mins...weird that it takes so long for you.

although...your forever and our forever could also be different :)

What exactly are people paying for with premium godaddy charges over the competition? More features? Greater company stability?

I've never used anyone but GoDaddy and I've never had any problems. Plus I've never paid more than $8 for a domain or renewal... so for me, I use them because 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

And I like having all of my domains in one place.

I was concerned about that too, but you do have the option of applying the privacy to your domain before you completely check out, so I don't think it's an issue.

ive only recentrly started using namecheap for some domains i wanted privacy on. Seems to take hours sometimes. Weird I guess. Maybe it has to do with the DNS of my ISP?

Wait until you find out domain renewals with GoDaddy are $10 + $8 for private registration. I wanted to transfer to NameCheap 2 domains but it was within 7 days of expiration so I was stuck using GoDaddy again :( (and there attempts to sell me 30 additional items before checkout)

Yah... make sure to turn off that auto renewal or you'll have some massive charges on your statements that are out of the blue...

To their credit though, they reversed about $250 in domain renewal charges 30 days out from re-registration

I've been with GoDaddy for a few years now and their service has always been great. Once you get a decent sized portfolio with them they assign an account executive to you that will take care of all your registrations and renewals and apply discounts automatically. I've also had my rep run 10s of thousands of domains at a time to check availability for me.

Yes they have had some price increases because ICANN has increased their fees on more than one occasion in the last year or so.

Don't transact with GoDaddy in pounds though. Use USD.
