So someone has written me threatening legal action if I don't take down their sister from my Hott for Teacher website. Anyone have any advice?

Here's the post in question:

http://www.hottforteacher.com/category/anne-ichord/

The person's email:

My name is Danielle Cloutier Conrad. My sister has not been Formally charged! Remove her our I will hire an attorney for her regarding your website. It is a site that is not news for news sake. It is to show off female teacher’s being accused of sex crimes with or without their day in court. Even if you are within your rights I will wage an expensive war with you to remove my sister.
I will wait for your response.

Danielle Cloutier Conrad

This was my response so far:

Are you planning on suing your local NBC affiliate as well?

Please don't bother me again.

I'm laughing my ass off. But yeah, any advice?

I might change "charged" to "being charged" on your site, other than that I think that your response is perfect :)

I didn't even see this until just now, she also commented on the post:

If you do not take my sister off this website I will personally use my money to hire a lawyer and bury you. Remove her know she has not even been indited to this date. She is not a celebrity to be torn down. Teacher’s make no money for no thanks most kids have non existant parents. REMOVE HER NOW!!! I am calling my attorney after this post. Again she has not been Formally charged because there is NO evidence. Except for a rumor. FINALLY REMOVE HER OR FACE LEGAL ACTION

I changed charged to "facing charges" in the post. I'll give her that much.

If you do get sued, write articles about it and link it up anywhere you can find. There is a ton of publicity to be had through lawsuits.

This could be a link building opportunity, and a nonprofit will probably pay your bills. Egg her on!

Where the hell were all these nimfo teachers when I was in school?

Bluff for sure!
no shit... did you see that chick from florida? ... she was fucking hot!!!!

This should serve as a reminder to always run your public sites and projects behind the right corporate structure. Throw up a corp or LLC and get some protection from this kind of lawsuit

When making threats for law suits, its a bit hard to take things seriously when grammar and spelling is that off...

Well the original complaint is hard to take seriously, letter in the mail from the lawyer she could hire is a bit more serious

It's not as easy as just "throwing up" a llc, or inc at the end of your name. For most of these bloggers or just random guys tryin' to make a buck, that's not an option to start a real corporation just so they can start a website.

Well, I wasn't implying you can just make it up... but if you're trying to make a living off this industry (or any other) make sure you take the appropriate steps to be protected...

I think sometimes this means passing on what you might think will be a popular idea simply because of liability concerns

I dunno, I think I can kind of understand that she's probably frustrated. What would you do in her position to try to get some site that in your mind is attempting to ruin a sibling of yours' reputation to remove an article?

But I don't think that she's choosing a very smart route to attempt to remove that information. Don't try to make threats you don't even understand. It's like me making a threat to take over the government: I am in no position to do this, and wouldn't know how to, even if I were.

I wonder if she's heard of the constitution and freedom of press, freedom of speech, etc.? It's all public info anyways, I'm sure. Any good attorney would tell her that she has no case.

I think this post is hilarious ... Would be quite funny if you manage to get some publicity from her threat.

No doubt... could see it on the news now... "Hottforteacher.com is being sued by blah blah blah blah"

Next day you have like 2982908590 hits. :D
