Ive never built a gambling site - but ive been tempted
do you think these are moraly wrong or do you see it as "well they were going to gamble anyway i might as well get some £££"
how big a bit of pie is it worth - im still on the fence :D

If it's legal, I'd have no qualms about it. Id have issues if I had to be creative to get around laws though (depends largely on the country you live on on this one.)

those people will gamble away their money one way or another. I'd rather have it go into my pocket than someone else's. Then again, I don't believe in heaven, hell, reincarnation, or anything else.. so I'm not exactly a guilty person.

Owning a gambling site can be a good way to help people, on the flipside.

Single out users who seem to be losing a lot, suggest they seek help as they may be addicted.

haha, what a great way to spin this. Props for the idea.

Single out the users, get them to your gambling-withdrawal site.. and make some money selling them eBooks on how to stop gambling.

For most gabling affiliate programs, you get a commission on the money that is lost. Great idea, single out your most profitable customers, and get them to stop! heh.

It's a hard one. You cna make a lot of money from it but while you're making the money someone out there is loosing a lot.

In Australia we aren't legally allowed to host porn or gambling sites.

I think porn and gambling are the two biggest money spinners. Porn is don't have a problem with. Gamling, I dont think I'd be able to sleep well knowing some poor bastard is loosing his life savings and threatening his family (in an extreme case) in order for me to make some money

you can host your content elsewhere where it is legal and get round it anyway

Yeah as an aussie i can have a porn site - provided its not physically hosted here. It can sit on a server in america no problem but if i put it o na web server here i'm breaking the law.

not that i would host any web site here in australia. think of the prices you pay for hosting in the US then triple it and halve the available bandwidth and you get an idea of how great it is to host here

Same in Germany and Switzerland. BW is insanely expensive!

I don't have a problem with any websites as long as they're legal. I don't believe porn or gambling hurt people if used in a responsible fashion.

I've never started a website in either category, but if I thought I could make good money I'm sure I would. Except maybe for porn, that does carry a stigma with it, I like being able to tell people what I do.

I've never done it, gambling is a very competitive market and I don't think it will be easy to generate traffic.
if you find the right niche you could get into it - there is always a little sub niche

am i right jon ?
