Just FYI MIT (I think it was MIT...) had this 5 years ago, was bought about and subsequently killed.

No I can't quote a source, I was in HS and it hit slashdot. Next day it was gone, deleted, and nowhere to be found. Bookmarks were all 404.
 
Speaking of weird cancer cures, my grandmother had a spot of skin cancer on her nose a few years back. Her and my mom found some super quack doctor from whatever that claimed to have a cure for certain types of skin cancer by using eggplants.

No idea the details beyond that but she went to him, he sold her some cream that he made and it did in fact cure the patch of cancer on her nose. Doctors confirmed it was gone and she was happy. They later told me that the guy was shut down and arrested by the FDA for selling cures to shit they did not approve.
 
Not doing it right. What they need to be doing is making nanobots that make microtears in your muscle fibers each day so we can just focus on eating and not wokring out so god damn much.

I totally get the point of this.... that being said... FUCK THAT. No way Im unleashing an army of nanoninjas to auto-tear anything internal. To much room for error.

Raymond Kurzweil believes that within 20 years nanotechnology will allow us to halt the ageing process and reverse it, allowing us to live forever. Nanobots will work through the body killing tumours, unblocking clots and performing operations without scars. They will fix diseased or ageing organs, while computers back up our human memories and rejuvenate the body.

Ray was also quoted that: "Within 25 years we will be able to do an Olympic sprint for 15 minutes without taking a breath, or go scuba-diving for four hours without oxygen!" One negative thing seen by some people is that as this technology advances there may be possible "doomsday" scenarios. Computers will develop the same emotions, intelligence and self awareness as humans and when they do get "smarter" you just never know what implications will lie for us (as seen in 2001: A Space Odyssey, Terminator etc).

Many people will read this kinda stuff and think of it as complete BS, but Raymond Kurzweil is smarter than most people you're likely to meet in your lifetime. Bill Gates considers him the smartest futurist on the planet, he has 16 honorary degrees, he has won countless prestigious awards, has been referred to as the new Thomas Edison (has many inventions) and his published books have been extremely successful. All these reports of "nanorobots killing cancer cells" does not surprise me one bit.:D

Just because he's "smart" and won numerous honorary degrees doesn't mean his predictions will actually come true.

Many of the predictions he made in his earlier books (such as highways full of automated trucks and cars by 2010) did'nt turn out to be even remotely true. You are giving him entirely too much credit, he's just a theorist, smart maybe but not the gospel.
 
just found out last night theres like a 2% chance i have oral cancer.... will find out in like 2 weeks, but this would be a huge development if these nanorobots work as they should

You're right, he could be way off on some theories, but the recent cancer/Nanotechnology news does sound quite promising at this time. If the right people are funded as much as required then they will get there.

lol, I doubt it was her alone. He was some big radio personality and herbalist of some sort down in Miami. He was pretty well know and had some publications about herbal remedies the gub'net didn't want you to know about. It was just a matter of time before the poor guy got caught.
