if a bank collapses, the country collapses, the insurance will do fuck all.
Also, do the insurance companies have enough funds to cover everyones claims in the event of a banking collapse.. i doubt it.. the insurance companies are probably doing the "fractional reserve style thing"
To be licensed the way they were, FTP was expected to have all player funds in separate bank accounts that weren't used for operating expenses (the same way PokerStars actually *is* operated). They lied about this, which is the basis of the situation.

Not to mention that players were playing with 'phantom' money, basically when players deposited in the US ftp weren't able to obtain that money from the processors yet they credited the players account and allowed them to play, they made the huge mistake of continuing to allow this and let the gap grow.
Full Tilt was definitely rigged, serves those cheating bastards right.
This one time I deposited $400 and was playing no limit where the blinds where $2 and $4. I couldnt really afford to lose the money because I was still at law school at the time... but I am pretty fkn good at poker so figured it was some easy money.
I get A9 which is a pretty solid hand so raise, one dude (the cheat) calls.
Flop cards came out an A, 9 and 3. Bammm I have the nuts top two pair, time to reel this sucker in.
I was a bit scared he has a flush draw so bet really big, he called it pretty quick.
Turn card was another 9. BAMMMMM got this shit locked up. The cheating dude checked so I checked as well to let him catch his flush (I have the nuts)
River was the perfect card a low spade completing the flush draw (I knew he had the flush draw). He bet out really big, I instantly go all in and he calls.
Then WTF... the chips slide across to him not me.
I look again and he has AA.
Fuck, what are the chances of that, its a rigged game. Those dickheads at full tilt were cheating for years and finally got caught out this time.

Exactly. Gov just needs cash so they twist the story so they can steal everyones money. You can guarantee they won't be giving any money back to the players.
I'm not saying its not rigged but that really proves nothing. I had many hands where I had to stop playing and would just bet crazy to clear money and end up winning.
People would always call bot or cheater ect when that happened.
This sounds like it happened a long time ago, but really, if you think this is good poker playing, and you were ripped off, then you're probably lucky you stopped playing.

This whole thing is bullshit. The guys over @ FTP basically set up their business like the US Gov and Social Security. Its fine for the Gov to force everyone to pay 15% of their income into a giant slush fund that they "borrow" the money from while knowing in 30 years they wont be able to pay out the "benefits" they promised.

As far as the article goes they are getting what they deserve for trying to pull that bullshit. You'd think they would make enough off of it at it's height to not have to pull that sort of stuff off.
They are poker players they milked that cow dry. I would have done the same thing. It doesnt matter how much money you make you always want more. Why settle for 4 million when you can take 400 million? The problem is they fucked up their accounting and now they are fucked.
