...I could actually smell perfume... Had an intense rush of adrenaline, picked up a hammer...

You and your wife must be into some kinky shit man.

J/K, sorry to hear it dude, my house (technically my parents') was broken into when I was in high school, fucktard gang banger wanna bes grabbed all kinds of shit and made a huge mess.

petrescue.com.au - great! I'll have a look.

Heh.. Had the hammer next to the door because I was putting together a desk (from Ikea - hammer wtf?).

I'll get the laptop lock for sure.

I'm pretty sure I know why they picked my house. At first I thought it was because of the car, a Beemer with personalised number plates, but it wasn't. They were just walking around the neighbourhood looking for an easy target. They had tools, and tried all the windows untill they got one. Lesson learnt.

you know I live in perth and had this two dudes trying to breaks into while I'm in the house. They knocked on my front door but I didn't answer, after a while i heard a loud bang from behind, so i went ahead and check it, saw this two dudes through the window smashing at the backdoor, I rang the cops immediately and picked up the baseball bat. Later after the call, I headed to the back door but it was left opened and they were gone, prolly heard me calling the cops. this happened during the day.

invest in a firearm first. something that begins with atleast a .4 as in .40 or .45. hammer, bat???? .45 cal FTW. and you don't have to clean up shit. well unless someone were to break in again.

They only stole lappy's and Camera's ...seems like some educated gadget geeks..

lol it doesn't take a genius to figure out that a laptop/camera or any popular electronics can be sold on the streets for quick cash instantly

I haven't had a break-in since I got my dog...

I also put up some of those 'beware of dog' signs... I think that helps deter people...

poto most husky's are friendly as and can easily be led away by strangers.. i've heard of many being stolen that way.

unless of course yours has had some training...

That sucks. I'm sorry to hear.

Be sure to encrypt (parts of or wholly) your hard disks so that whoever has your laptops in the future can't recover "vital" information. You can use TrueCrypt for that purpose.

not only many being stolen, I've heard people would try to lure it with food+poison to kill then breaking in or later cause they simply noe that you won't get a new one that quick. unless dog is train not to eat anything other than what you give. sicked who could hav tot of that.

I got burgled 3 years back. I still have him, chained up in the basement. Amazing what you can do with pliers, a blowtorch, and some razor wire.

Ok just did some research on huskies, it seems they arent exactly good guard dogs. From siberianhuskyclub.com:
Don?t be fooled by his appearance -- he is NOT a watchdog. Siberians are not inclined to give even warning barks upon approach by a stranger, no matter where they are, not even in their own homes. They are far more likely to lead an intruder to the biscuit box and offer the family silver in exchange for a treat. They are not inclined to be guard dogs, either, although if you as a member of their pack were seriously threatened, they might come to your defense enough to knock someone off of you. Ordinarily, your most extreme danger from a Siberian is being licked to death.
