There are actually many people who read it since it's pretty funny... some people like it, some people don't... just like any site out there. Some people love Myspace, some people despise it.

so how do you promote it? reddit? digg? or did you use one of those auto-posters to spam the link?

Sites like this tend to go viral because one guy finds just one thread that is hilariously funny (or them) and spams it out to their friends, and there are enough friends that farm it out to more than one other person. I've already sent the one about the girl trying to be sexy and then getting attacked by her dog to my missus... mostly because that's happened to us in the past and we didn't realise he was under the bed at the time.

So long as it offers something different, or focuses on a niche.
FML's problem is that they don't allow anything too risque, they're too generalised, and they only publish 20 out of the hundreds of snippets that they receive each day.
Something like Home - Project Cock Block can take the things that FML can't publish due to the adult nature, of Not Always Right | Funny & Stupid Customer Quotes focuses specifically on stories of victory in customer service industries.

It's about selecting the correct market.

I agree that FML is way too straight edge. Even their slogan changed to something much more mainstream. So this is the chance for people to step in and find a niche that's well known but at the same time the general public has rare access to. Think post secret with a specific group of people.
