I'm doing long tail keyword research for my SEO site but i'm trying to decide on a criteria on which is the limit for how many global monthly searches a keyword has. Do you have one? I might make my limit 3000 or is that too high/low? Btw, i'm starting off with 10 article pages.

3000 searches per month * 40% (position #1 traffic) * 25% ctr to offer * 2% conversion rate = 6 conversions a month

Thanks, i know i'm sounding newbish but this is all clicking together finally and i'm getting the hang of it.

How many conversions per month per keyword would you aim for?

Just do it brother, remember most of the times high searches = high competition.

and use the new Adwords tool if you want a more accurate data (sort of).

I personally do 1k exact searches and up.

really depends on how much you'll make per conversion X the number of conversions - your investment to get that much. If it's positive, it was probably worth it

Keep in mind that's an average %. I've had a 75% Ctr to my offer and a 19% conv rate for an offer that paid me $36 per lead. The keyword only had 2,500 exact searches per month which I ranked #1 for.

Don't think in terms of conversions. Think of profit. Even if you only get 5 conversions a month, if you are profiting then begin to scale up.
