First Attempt. What went wrong?

Use your adcopy to call out YOUR MARKET... that's what adcopy is for anyways.

just to point out to gkemper90 that what Garrett is suggesting is that you bid on general keywords such as "halo 4", but have actual ad copy like "Buy Halo 4 now for only $9.99". In this strategy you target a wide audience but then filter it down to the buyers by using "buy it now" language, V.S. already aiming narrowly at people who are in a buying mood with "buy halo 4".

Whichever approach you choose, this decision making is where you earn your cash :). My own suggestion would be to look whether there are already a lot of people taking either approach, and then take whichever doesn't have a lot of competitors that are doing the same.

Well, I'm new to the affiliate marketing thing. I have web programming and some......I spent about $25 dollars in advertising and it was gone in less than 2 hours at ....?

I know it has been said at least once but I think the main problem here is not enough testing. $25 is just simply not enough data to work with.

Nice site, the banner needs work and also pixel text but clean it up put maybe a review of the games to entice the buyer.Add a small review and ask people to review it or do it yourself........ try some free advertising if you don't have the funds. See whats out there you seem to be going in the right direction...
These people have good knowledge listen and work at it until you make it!

bidding on a broad keyword like 'halo 4' is so beyond retarded. even if you make your ad all about purchasing or renting, either your ctr will drop and make your QS drop along with it or you won't convert.

has anyone here in this thread (besides a few who know who they are) ever tried PPC? jesus christ.

Typo in first sentence "Here are UsedGameStash.Com we have affiliated ..." Then
when I clicked the buy button for Guitar Hero it never loaded - just waiting for gamefly dot com until I hit the stop button.

+1 for Garret has down syndrome, as for everyone else, very nice advice.

Hahaha.. that's a funny expression.

Anyways, I've done pretty well bidding on product names. Never sold video games though. The commission looks too small to promote through PPC (10% on CJ).

Try using the 'rent' type keywords and then offer the free trial which makes you $15+. Also, build a unique page for each video game.

Yeah i also make good profit on bidding just on product names... but try it in the video games niche!

no cigar.

EDIT: just noticed you've never been in the games niche, yet your giving advice on what keywords to bid on, gedda fuck oudda here.

I think you might just be paying way too much per click to make this work. 10% on a $10 game is $1. If you were bidding $.40 per click you would need 40% conversion rate just to break even.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I thought $.40 might be a bit high, but I just wanted to see some sort of conversion. On top of that it looks like the games are selling out, that is why you got the "alert me when I can buy".

The keywords I was using were atleast targeting towards "buy mode". Such as cheap video games, buy cheap games, buy used video games, etc. I was always in the top 3 also.

I'm going cut my losses on this idea for now, and work on video game website that is a bit more useful, a bit more targeted, a bit cheaper to run, with a bit more commission involved.
