fake testimonials legal ?

I saw this landing page that looks like a news page and it has a photo that looks familiar from istockphotos and it has the person's "personal information" (not sure if legal) holding a big fat check from Google (recipient name is too small to tell )

Is this legal ? Can you create a fake persona and say hey look everyone this blonde is rolling bank why can't you ?
 


almost every website does it that sells products, so don't think you'll ever get sued for it unless it's a scam. if it says what it does then shouldn't be a problem.
 
yea, I'm pretty certain that it is illegal, but you would probably need an outrageously popular product to ever get caught. This also goes for posing as some fake persona yourself or omitting an earnings disclaimer.
