Hi everyone, over the last 2 days i've just been getting started with facebook ads. I've got 4 ads running promoting dating (leads). And basically i'm just looking for a bit of advice on my ctr/conversions really. So far i have had 68,000 impressions, 52 clicks and spent $18.88. But so far not one of these has converted, what would some of you facebook pros do in my situation? Ditch it? tweak it?... Just need a bit of advice really.

Cheers :2drinkspit:

How the hell did you get 4 dating ads through? Fuck I haven't had an ad go through in a week.

Anyways read the above thread.

I wonder if there would be more conversions on a friday night when the people who are on facebook at this time dont have as much of a social life

You're paying 36 cents a click ? And getting a CTR of about 0.07 ? That's pretty low in the first case, if you ask me. Also the Cost Per Click is very high in this case!

You need to look at a few things -
- Your ad - is it well thought out? is it something you would click? does it relate to your landing page?
- Your Landing page - Do you have one? Is it good?
- Try something Unconventional - Like a story of a girl who found her guy on an XXX dating site (you have no idea how stupid people can be)
- Your Demographics - Are you blind targetting ?

You have to work out your options - you have managed to get a lot of impressions, meaning the ads are showing up - but people are not clicking on them.

Cheers for the feedback. (except volume10 yea i can read what he said don't be a parrot dickhead, go use someone else's thread to get your post count up).

Hey Ngo yea ive skimmed through that thread lightly, i'll get stuck into reading it all tommorow :smokin:. Anarkist at the moment i'm just doing a redirect to offer, i havn't tried doing a landing page > offer. Does this have a better conversion in your opinion? I'm basically going along the lines of, grab them as quickly as possible, i know from experience they don't like to be distracted from their facebooking for too long, so whacking a quick 1 page submit in their face i thought woulda been better. But if you've experienced otherwise, i'll deff give it a blast.

Is dating converting well for others atm?

I know the dating site i'm promoting can't be too bad because i've been watching a dude promoting it on facebook ads for about a week, and the difference between our ads isn't much, infact i'd say mine would attract more clicks :S I suppose its down to CPC aswell.

Quick question, when i lower my cpc i get an orange exclamation mark to raise my bid back up. If i don't bother raising it, will it still keep on showing?

rupie: Yea already done that mate, cheers though!

As it clearly states, you won't be receiving any impressions if you're going to be cheap with your clicks when not maintaining a high enough click-through rate.

Although it CAN be profitable, FB is hard to convert to begin with - you'd get way better results on G or Y with that cpc and good low hanging longtail dating keys. I've had aff's push tons of traffic through FB and although dating may seem like the obvious niche of choice you'll notice 80% if not more of the ads are in fact dating sites. To go further, some may not be aff's but internal teams there just doing awareness campaigns.

Anarkists advice is good: I would test conversions on more than FB just to prove that your choice of site does in fact convert (at least 1% hopefully). It may not be any of the factors mentioned but the site itself - sometimes with dating 1:500 is still considered good/great for some...

I'm sure you probably already have but: Focus your target on 25-40+ yr old males in US/CA/UK/NZ - english speaking territory. You'd also be surprised what a few groups and shameless internal self promo can do for you at FB (aliases)...

Cheers.

wtf??! i'd be reaching for the hangmans noose with those conversion rates. i was getting about 10-20% conversion rate pushing dating on fb in my brief stint there last month. which was ~break even one day, double up the next if its any help to the op. run a test lead through and see if you get credited. if not well you know what to do, at best it will set your mind at rest

Hey ncmedia thank you for your advice. Yea this is getting stupid now, i'm getting a 14% ctr today at 0.25 a click. Not one conversion! I've already done a test lead, and it went through fine. Ahh i don't know, i usually do really well promoting dating and usually have fantastic conversions ratios. Guess i'll have to try another offer, i'm throwing money down the drain atm (well coupon credits anyway).

Either the offer sucks for facebook or your ads suck!

With a simple dating lead offer, if you haven't had any conversions in 52 clicks then you have to change the ad or ditch!

Test new ads with different pictures and call to action words. If they still aren't converting, then ditch the offer all together.

Wow! Thats bad. It's probably the offer's landing page. I'm getting a 15% conversion rate when they hit my offer's landing page. Makin' the bank yo!

What are you talking about? Those figures are pathetic for dating. Even if you're paying 8 cents for 500 clicks - that's $40 for one conversion. What dating website is still letting you be profitable?

Probably for the sale. eHarmony pays $60 I think.

Get a new offer plain and simple. Singlesnet.com or true.com is what I suggest as a baseline then test out. Both convert amazing I've run my own personal traffic to each of years. They work. Then once you have a good baseline then go out and test other dating offers to see if you can get a higher EPC. But to your answer "does dating work" absolutely. Honestly it's one of the best most consistent niches out there with so many ways to promote it. Keep at it man you'll get it. If you need help tweaking a campaign or want me to look at your lander just pm me I'd be happy to help you out.

Also once you get the traffic and get it to convert you run into other issues. As facebook traffi doesn't back out that well for the advertiser. So you need to make specific demographic tweaks to your campaigns to really optimize for the advertiser as well. Or they'll just boot you off the offer. But of course this part is step 2 :)
