Profit last year was $1 billion

Ads made up 83% of revenue in q4

Zuckerberg's salary is $500k

Plans to go public in second quarter of 2012

Lots of other info, but can't get the S1 to load on the sec site, it's loading too slow.

So how exactly is the street's valuation of 83.5 billion justified?

I am consistently amazed by the power of hype. Even when the numbers are screaming out facts, people would rather place their bets based on hope, hype, and gut feelings...only to complain when they lose.

Exactly. I consider myself lucky to have grasped this concept well enough to use it to my advantage in business. It's a very powerful psychological effect that - when used correctly, will:

1) Compel someone to want your product.

2) Compel them to buy the product at a higher price point.

3) Compel that person to convince themselves that it was a good purchase.

4) Compel that person to buy from you (or rather, your brand) repeatedly.

Very powerful stuff when mastered.

I highly recommend this book:

Facebook IPO will be legit, there's some money to be made......for a while.

Just don't get caught holding the bag.

In eager to see the opening price action.

I'm going to take your recommendation and pick that up. I'm particularly interested in the concept/psychology of premium/prestige pricing. It seems to me that the more materialistic people become, the more effective prestige pricing should be.

Previous generations would boast about getting "good deals", but it seems like many people in certain demographics today prefer to boast about spending money, rather than saving it.

5)Compel that person to convince everyone they know to purchase said product/service

A lot of the stock market prices are dictated by emotion. Just follow the price of oil along side world news to understand what I'm taking about.

I make good money with binary options on oil every time there is a hiccup in the Middle East. :)

any experienced affiliate marketer knows facebook ads are shit now compared to what they used to be. facebook doesn't have something like android to fall back on. oh, game currency... right.

Facebook's trojan horse will be FB ads outside of FB (think FB's Adsense). If they're not building this already it has to be in the pipeline.

Think of all the data they have with publishers that use the FB connect button--why limit FB ads to Facebook ?

This will be huge.

Another contextual ad network isn't the "next big thing".

Couldn't agree more.
