erect the impaler ... why excessive bumping is bad for your sales

What about those who snap up free review copies but don't care to return to post a review (good or bad whatever) ? They should be banned from accepting any free review copy in future and if they do, they should face the ban hammer.

I'd vote in favor of such a rule.

If someone requests a review and doesn't post it within a week of the product/service being delivered, they need a 2 week ban. Even with an SEO service you get a list of where the links were placed. Check them and then report back. You can post later on if the service actually worked.

MODs anyway we could have a vote for warnings for free review beggers.. ?

I am just tired of seeing them run up there iTrader and the providers think they are somebody, then in turn they just get more free reviews. Seems to be some gaming going on .. Most have been mentioned already in this thread.

I've got a feeling they're the same person. I'm not voting for a ban, but just vendor beware when providing review copies.

Evidence:

1. Compare this thread and this thread.

2. Compare this post and this post from the same thread.

3. Compare this thread and this thread, both posted on 7/21/10.

lol, just lol

please can some mod step in here?

It gets worse. A lot worse.

I had a folder filled with bookmarked examples from these three members (or one member, if my suspicion is true). I had planned on asking a mod to take a look awhile back, but kept hoping vendors would step up and protect themselves. It never happened.

You can imagine with their itrader levels that these three (or one) have made this forum and a lot of vendors their bitch.

I think your on to something here.. If your right this is actually pretty slick they aren't your usual indo dumbasses either.

The more I go and look at these three there are patterns and there seems to be some gaming going on..

good eye.

FUCK YOU REVIEW BEGGARS AND I SEE SOME THAT ARE POSTING IN THIS THREAD STILL DOING IT.. FUCK YOU

GOING ON THE GYM TO RELEASE MY ANGER :)

FREE REVIEW, FREE REVIEW.... I GET FUCKING DP FLASHBACKS WHEN I SEE THIS AND IT MAKES ME FUCKING CRAZY..

IF YOU WANT A FREE REVIEW GO BACK OVER THERE AND GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bumping a thread one time wanting to buy/hire a service shouldn't warrant a ban...

Agreed. It seems to be a problem with the setup. Buyers/Hirers should be in different forums. That way there would not need to be as much bumping.

Perhaps there's a reason for buyers and sellers being in the same forum. I've been proven wrong on this thread already so I'm open to being proven wrong again.

Don't take this the wrong way, but with less than 50 posts and 2 iTrader, your opinion on the SBT is going to be discounted heavily. If you were a more active participant, then these ideas of how to re-organize might have more weight, but there is a danger in catering to a vocal minority when all that is really needed is helping erect spot rule breakers, not reinvent the wheel.

A lot of times, vendors don't realize that it's so frowned upon over here. A friendly warning in their thread might put them on the right path. I'd hate to see good vendors get clubbed due to ignorance.

Rather than creating a rule, this could be a great chance to post in the vendor's thread "Stop bumping your thread. We don't like it around these parts. If you keep doing it, you'll get banned (proof). It's your choice. The warnings don't get friendlier."

About the review beggars:

Maybe someone could go into the vendor's thread when the beggar shows up and say "If you're gonna give a free copy to plusmin, do it as spec work, not for the review. Nobody around here respects his reviews or itraders (proof). It's kind of a black mark. Unless you think it's gonna turn into future work from him, I wouldn't do it. You'd just be spinning your wheels for nothing."

Measured community involvement is key to making this work. It'll get messy at times. None of us are perfect. We're gonna hit false positives, and let a few idiots slip through the net. That's gonna happen.

But we'll figure it out as we go, right? :)
