Not surprising, past few seasons have sucked fucking balls. Final nail in the coffin as I thought it couldn't get any worse than last season. They not only exceeded the level of shit that last season brought, they knocked it out of the ball park.
That's also coming from me who thinks season 1-4 is some of the stuff to ever be on TV.

It was about getting big during those seasons. Once Vince became huge, it was just about smaller things such as people problems.
BTW, I'm pretty sure the movie has been confirmed.

Sure, the ending was "happy." However, it was way over the top and way too ridiculous to be even remotely believable.
Turtle becomes a millionaire.
Johnny gets his show.
E gets back with sloan.
Vince gets married in Paris (not even possible to be legally married in that circumstance)
Ari gets his wife back.
Those are nothing short of miracles if you follow the show at all. Way over the top. Yesterday E could have died and sloan would not have cared. Today she agrees to fly with him to paris on a private jet, just the two of them. Riiigghhhht. Melissa hates ari's guts, but because today he quits his job and brings opera amateur hour home and wants to go to florence, she loves him again and wants to go to Paris same day. Riigghhhhht. Turtle's stupid ass is magically saved by vince because he didn't sell his shares, and now they are both filthy rich. Riiigghhhht. Sophia agrees to marry vince after ONE date (plus they cannot even legally get married in france)? Get fucking real. And drama's show? Get the fuck out of town.

Mrs. Gold's ass will make for an interesting movie also!

At risk of sounding like a complete twat, is this show any good? I don't have much time to myself, but the ads I've seen of this show make it out to be pretty awesome.

but OP I completely disagree with you. I thought it was a great series finale, how else would you have fucking ended it? It brought a lot of closure to everything thats been going on in the series...

Just start from the beginning to see if you like it. If you do, then you'll definitely enjoy the first 4 seasons. After that, the quality drops off considerably ( except for some Ari Gold moments) and keeps dropping until season 8...the first 4 are still worth watching, though.
