Asia: 3rd world, parasites (almost guaranteed) 1,000% different lifestyle, super hot women but at the end of the day - 3rd world.
I hate to keep acting like Bangkok's head cheerleader here but when I'm in town I can't help but think of the USA as the 3rd world country... The city of BKK itself is as large as any in the US but is filled with high-rise towers the whole way from edge to edge... The luxury to be had in BKK is something you pretty much can't buy in the US at any price. (And no I'm not talking about strippers.)I hope Thailand will be better (I think so).
Heck, just one of the mega malls downtown like Siam Paragon or Central World alone will give you enough to see, do, be entertained by, and purchase for the rest of your life in total gelato-stuffed luxury that you'll never want to see the US again.
It can be 3rd world in Thailand out in the bush and by the beaches of course, but since everyone in Thailand goes to BKK sometime, the country as a whole is very civilized and even a half-naked mango farmer in the south should know where you can get some free wifi in the area.
BKK just can't be compared to other countries this way. That city and the country of Japan are in a class of their own, ABOVE america's standards. I know of many worldly brands I can buy in BKK that I can't get anywhere in the USA because our stupid populace just won't appreciate them.
New Zealand: Looks damn dandy to me.
New Zealand is awesome, everything is cheap, lots of open space and business opportunities. But I wouldn't recommend it if you are young/into partying. New Zealand girls are not exactly nice to look at... Plus it's really hard to travel from here. Good place to settle down and have kids though.
Ask KimDotCom if New Zealand is awesome. I know he used to think so...Yeah all analysis points there. If they will have me. I want to raise my kid there.
My only problem with it other than that issue is the isolation thing. That far from the rest of the world means that these blokes don't get all the best malls, foods, and brands as often as a big city like BKK or Tokyo.
If you're on US soil, even Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands, you're subject to federal laws like the NDAA and can go missing in the night, forever, just as easily.Yeah, it sucks in many areas of the US but there are also many other areas that are extremely nice, laid back where no one cares.
Take my county for instance. Median murder rate less than any country in Europe, and 10% of the people carry guns on them.
If you're on the mainland then I don't think your town will escape the eventual bloody revolution, no matter how laid back they are today.
