One of these political or religion threads pops up once every two weeks it seems...
Listen up everyone. We can argue this until our fingers bleed from furious typing and signing petitions or joining FB groups and still, it will not make a single difference for any of it.
To get rid of the problem the US government needs to do some SERIOUS foreign policy changes. They can do it quickly, or they can take their sweet time. Again, and unfortunately, we don't really have much say like the people used to, pre-WW2 era.
Ethanol? Are you kidding? Sure it sounds like a great idea on paper, but then again, so does communism to many folks, and then comes reality, and it just doesn't have a good longterm solution to continue working or fixing the problem.
So instead of trying to mine for coal, drill for oil, or put Hydrogen fuel cells into cars, why the hell are people not paying attention to that little automaker called TESLA?
They produced an electric car that is cooler looking, faster, cleaner by a billion times, and quiet. Alright, the downside is that its on the expensive side, but that's also because its a roadster. If they made sedans, SUV's, motorcycles, luxury sedans, compacts, trucks, boats, etc... and had their sticker price lower (government subsidized plans can help) THEN not only would we be making a HUGE difference on the environment, but we wouldn't be dependent on any damn foreign country for their oil or natural energy resources. PLUS... we'd all be saving a shitload of cash every year, so we can spend it on other important things.. like porn, poker and booze.
But.. of course this will never happen, or if it does, not for a very long time I bet. Why? Because the energy companies are too fixated on the current huge profit margins they are reaping from a soon to be energy chrisis.
To those that like Ethanol or see it as a solution... well, it sucks. Its not cheaper than gasoline when you fill up, and its still not all that great for the environment. Remember, EXHAUST from a vehicle is still EXHAUST. Even if it smells like corn and fried chicken. What we need is zero exhaust, zero emissions from cars, and zero fucking oil. Someday, we're going to run out. It could be in a few generations from now, but its inevitable. So why drill in areas that will just hurt the environment and provide temporary solutions to major longterm problems?
Its one giant clusterfuck if you ask me. So I'll just sit back and watch everyone argue. Talking doesn't solve the problem, only actions do; And until I see electric cars (not fucking hybrids!) being sold on the market in the US, then I'll know change is really here.
