With the popularity of sales pages using a 700px width page.. have you guys ever considered using something along that lines from 800-1024 px MAX for your websites?

It's good for readability but what do you think?

I use a 790 px fixed width for nearly all my webpages (including a forum).

WF seems to be a 80% scalable or a 900++ fixed width...

I really try to stick to <800px wide just because of how annoying horizontal scrolling is. Most people are at 1024 so a website @ 800px would take up a good sized chunk of their screen. Scalable pages are the way to go though, they just take a bit more work.

I usually use 780px max, but lately I've been going over a little bit.
On my main web (couple thousand visits a day) the percentage of users using 800x600 is a mere 3.70%.. that tells you something.

same here man

I have a site that is 1000+ px

Peeps that use 800... go buy a better screen or gfx card for fucks sake!

I usually go with 800px W, I think there are still allot of people out there using old monitors, I built a forum at 1027 and got many complaints from my members that were still using 800X600

Just because someone's screen resolution is greater than 800x600 pixels doesn't mean they view web pages with their browser maximized. I immediately go somewhere else if I have to scroll horizontally for a site because it's a poor design. I never design my pages to require more than 800 pixels wide.

z00pedup, I would say a majority of internet users have screen resolutions at greater than 800x600, but like I said above, it doesn't matter what their screen resolution is because they will likely have their browser taking up only a portion of screen space. I imagine your sites are poorly designed.
