And I don't mean goals like "make lots of money and retire young." Great goal, but worthless without a path to get there.
Im talking about setting daily and weekly goals. I don't do this on my personal projects (and at work they are done for you) but I think I'm going to start. Basically saying, "Ok, today Im going to write 5 articles, and by the end of the week I will have 25 articles and xx feature added to the site."
I think one of the biggest things that seperates the serious web developer from the amatuer hacker (for personal projects, not client sites) is this kind of self imposed deadline. Im trying to make the transition from the latter to the former and I think setting daily and weekly goals is a good way to start.
