do you need to optimize a landing page

Hey,

Ok I am a little confused so I need someone to clear this up. So is this what people do:

Make a landing page and design it so it gets people to click through
Put up a strategic ad words campaign to get traffic
Make more money from commission than spent on adwords

My main question is do people who do this spend a lot of timing optimizing their landing pages for search engines? I know getting inbound links and creating blogs for your landing page is always a good idea but I am not sure if the site needs to be optimized since you are paying for your traffic with adwords.

Thats really a good question. Hardly any people think about it. Yeah link back, adwords all this really helpful to bring traffic in your website. Now come to the point why we need to optimize the landing page. I have listed below few points why you need to optimize your landing page.
1) Ensures compatibility with Search Engines
2) Pages open pretty faster
3) Design the page with content for users in ideal way

Yes I agree..you need to optimize it also specially the tags.
