Do you guys believe in ghosts / demons / possessions / haunted homes?

Yes, I do. They are not ghosts though, they are Genies, but they can take any form; ie black cat, dead old lady. They exist, same as we do, same as other live (ie animals, plants) and seemingly dead(ie stones, sand) God creations. BUT, my understand is that they can't cross over, otherwise, they would have take over us long time ago.

The only condition for them to take over humans is for those who give them the lead; such as worship them or willingly give them some control.

There is the good and bad crowed in them, same as there is in humans.

I saw one of these genies once. It was a blue mysterious figure. I couldn't believe my eyes.

I am astonished at how many people on here believe in ghosts.

The mind sees what it wants to see. If you believe in ghosts to begin with, of course your subconscious will equate every unexplained noise or reflection of light to a paranormal phenomenon.

I got a visit from my mother on the morning of her funeral. I told my aunt about it
that morning (I went to live with her) and she didn't say anything to me at the time.
Couple years later she told me that same morning she felt a cold breeze on her feet
and then a hand on her shoulder.

Didn't see her again after that except a lot of times in my dreams. One was pretty vivid
and surprised me so much that it woke me up.

I think most hauntings are residual. Especially when people have ghosts that walk
through walls (possibly there used to be a door there).

I think the place I live in now is haunted by a cleaning lady and sometimes she gets
pissed off at me for being a slob. Had one of my shoes get tossed from the kitchen floor
into the living room once. I didn't see it but I heard it bouncing. One night I was laying
on the couch and she walked out of my bedroom and headed to the door to go outside.
She turned around and seen me looking at her and then started walking over to me. As
she got closer she was hunching down to look at my face. It creeped me out to the
point where I got up really fast and then she disappeared.

I layed back down and a couple minutes later the voice mail sound on my phone (that
was on the kitchen table) went off. The phone never rang. I got up and dialed my voice
mail and it was some scratchy voice saying something I couldn't understand. I let a
bunch of people listen to it and they said it was pretty freaky and no one could make
out what it was saying.

Sometimes my cat stares into the kitchen and it really bugs the shit out of me...

I asked around and found out some information about the people that used to live
in my place before me. It was a middle aged couple and the female died in her car
in the parking lot one day... from what I've been told she loved to cook and clean
and fits the description of what I've seen here.

Yes, I've also had personal experiences with spirits but I was a young child. My sister saw the same things I saw for what it's worth. We were living in a house in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif which is known to have houses built on Indian burial grounds.

I second this theory. Well said, Matt.

1. Outsource to ghosts.
2. ??????
3. Profit

Ghosts probably = burst of quantum energy which our brain clothes in an image supplied by the subconscious. Just a guess.

:party-smiley-004:

Now off to bed in my pitch black room on a windy night.

This is Wickedfire.

Here the general populus believes in everything that isn't conventional, because they are not sheep, and they are the only ones that can see the real truth.

I've seen weird stuff I can't explain, but I just assume there's some random explanation that I either failed to witness or cannot comprehend -- I mean we live in a world where this is possible:
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4vV3KxQ16c]this is possible[/ame].

Ghosts, much like God are an easy way to explain something we can't comprehend.

From weird freaks of magnetism to minor tremors, tricks of the mind and gusts of wind, all sorts can create "ghost" like effects. I'd be more likely to attribute tying a keyboard to a mouse to sleep walking than to a ghost, it just doesn't seem like a rational conclusion to me... My keyboard got tied to my mouse in the night, so it's a ghost. A knocking could be anything, from the head board explanation to something outside hitting the house to the boiler doing some funky shit to who knows what else.

There are so many possible answers to every "paranormal" event; you could at least choose a rational one instead of jumping to an arbitrary claim.

Movement out of the corner of your eye, when there is nothing in the room that could have moved - not even shadows? Eye floaters, go see an ophthalmologist to make sure they're benign.

Weird creaking sounds or even banging sounds throughout your house? Old house, or shifting foundation. The earth moves after all (read: tectonic plates).

Your child behaving strangely, talking to invisible beings, becoming reclusive, and otherwise creeping you out? He/she has discovered the wonder of drugs.

Dreamt of a loved one, and woke up to find they had passed away in the night? Coincidence, and a common one at that - after all, most people dream of loved ones regularly. It is statistically inevitable that a number of people will dream of a loved one around the time that person is actually dying - and some of those dreams may even involve that loved one dying (read: nightmare).

Something in your room is moved while you were asleep? Sleep walking, nosy family member, or a trolling friend. You're adamant that it was none of those? You moved it, and are having memory issues. I half-jokingly list the possibility of schizophrenia, which would explain why you think you are seeing ghosts in the first place.

And so on.

Or you can jump to arbitrary conclusions and explain everything with ghosts. It saves you the effort of actually thinking things out, or, and this seems the most difficult for many people, carry on with the unexplained remaining unexplained instead of making up explanations.

Some things we can't explain - yet. Keep it unexplained instead of trying to explain it with ghosts/gods/demons/etc. But, this requires patience that many people cannot muster - they need their answers and they need them now, so why not make one up?

So my girlfriend hasn't been able to fall asleep for the past 2 nights because some chick at her work (seemingly very normal and coherent) told her about how she had to move from her home because basically since she moved there, she's been occasionally seeing this "old lady" (ghost/deceased ex-owner of the house) appearing in different locations of the house, especially at night...

Although my gf is not religious and doesn't normally believe in this stuff, it freaked her out. Like I said, her colleague is a perfectly normal girl (kinda hot too), outgoing, friendly and showing no sign of mental imbalance or anything like that...

What do you guys make of it? I noticed that my latino/indian friends tend to believe in this stuff more than whites. Is it a cultural thing?

Those that believe in this stuff: do you you have your own experiences to share?

I am kind of skeptical personally, but all I can say is this: movies like the Exorcist, the Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Grudge all scare the shit out of me for some reason. :crap:

It exists alright, there is defiantly another energy be that good or bad in the world we live in. Some see it others are completely blind to it.

In high school we used to take girls and booze and sneak into the gated community where the Vanderlip mansion is (putting pretty much any card in the card reader would open the gate in those days) and have a great old time. One time we even went through their mail.

jk, feds.

But no, we never saw any ghosts.

For record, I believe in them. But I never get scared about such beings because I also believe that such super natural beings operate in a different consciousness level and generally they don't have access to human consciousness level and vice versa (Source of my belief - Eastern religions & Quantum physics)

I have my own experiences on this but would not share them on WF, considering the nature of the demography.

Please could you point to some sources on how quantum physics provides evidence for ghosts? Or maybe explain a bit more in your own words if not?

Oh shit...
