So I am 19 and I have been doing CPA Marketing for about a year now. My first month was pure loss and from there on I started profiting beyond any of my expectations coming into this. I initially started Internet marketing for some spare cash and then it became something that I really enjoy. I want to step things up a notch, so from here I was curious..with internet marketing experience, would it be possible to get a job at a firm without a degree? Anyone else here have a degree and if so where did it get you? Its just, ive talked to people with degrees and they are all dildos. Maybe I just see things differently but out of all the internet marketing forums I read people seem like they understand marketing better than people with degrees.

No, chances are you will still need the degree unless you start off by doing phone sales at an "seo firm" for $7 an hour and work your way up. But if you have the slightest skill/knowledge when it comes to internet marketing you should be able to make at least $200 per day which is more than what most firms will pay their top guys (unless you're doing major projects for Fortune 500 companies)

I think you're looking at this the wrong way: If you're profiting beyond your wildest expectations, why are you wanting to work for someone else?

I dont have a degree and I should be able to get my G5 and Tivo next month.

In serious, I went back to college (online) for a couple of months later and I was quickly being asked by the staff who I was suppose to complete my assignments for as to exactly what the hell I was doing there.

I dropped out of JUCO and I quit in my second attempt at college. No you do not "need" it. You dont need a degree to achieve your dreams and goals. I've had the priviledge of helping publishers as young as 16 make more in a month than a typical yearly salary. This isnt bragging, it's simple facts.

Life and business is about testing, failing, picking yourself back up and not giving up. A degree could always be used as a just in case thing and make you look really good on paper but even a high school degree is not even needed. I've actually worked with people who dont have a high shool diploma or GED and they do fine for themselves.

Keep reading here bud and applying the knowledge.

Yeah but I am sick of getting dicked around by affiliate companies. I would like something more legit..I was just hoping someone could throw in a personal experience. But I definitely agree with you ayzo

Just stick with reliable affiliate networks and I'm sure you won't have a problem, copeac neverblue convert2media and ads4dough are all great ;)

If you do decide to use your skills for somebody else, I'd suggest going out on your own as a consultant. It's not as hard as you think, just incorporate, lease some cheap office space, hire 2 - 3 people to cold call businesses and offer seo/ppc management/web design, and pay them comission. Then go to digitalpoint and outsource all the dirty work. If you go to an seo agency or internet marketing firm they'll pay you peanuts and if you try to get an in house job for a company they'll hire whoever waves the fanciest degree in their face, not the guy with the proper skills.

if you want to go to college and experience university life, that is one thing. Experiencing college can be rewarding and fun. But it's not a must. A degree helped me get a job, but my goal is to be financially and location independent. Having a job won't help you with that. Having a business, which affiliate marketing can be for you, can do that.

Hello friend,

If want to work for other then have college degree is must. Unless work for family or friend.

Sometime it funny that person get MBA for work for boss who no go college. Boss start business after high school. Now he have peoples with MBA work very hard to make him rich while he live good life.

Good luck bro

Where are you from Ruck?

I think having a degree is a good safety net in case anything happens. You could still be doing affiliate marketing while you study, so it's a win-win.

I have a bunch of friends that went to 4 year universities and are still not employed in their "field" and working dead end jobs they could have got right out of high school (and they'd be making more by now). All of the opportunities I've been fortunate enough to enjoy have been in one way or another a result of plain old networking.

Of course, my alumni friends swear by the college experience and wouldn't trade it for anything. I don't see anything wrong with a 4(+) year party. Just keep your expectations realistic.

It surely wouldn't hurt some of the people here. No basic understanding of marketing or business.

So true.

Unless you're like top of your class you wont find a top paying job right away... in fact if you graduate like just "average grades" you probably wont even find a job!

This is the reality in my country... to many people graduating from university and not enough work openings, so average graders get to go to unemployment even though they studied for 4 years or so.

Search and demand baby... its all about search and demand

I'm actually a senior in university...will graduate im september (or so I hope) and the perspectives aren't good, so for me it's affiliate marketing FTW

You need at least a B minus in your Affiliate Marketing exam, then you will make $10,215 a month. If you manage to Achieve anything higher than a B minus, then your monthly income increases relatively.
A- = $30,764 a month, A+ = $52,450 etc.

College obviously increases your income too, but I don't know the exact formula for that.

I have a degree...do i think it's vitally important? NO ....but it could never hurt.

I'm 21 and work full time as a software programmer.. without a degree. While you don't need one, most places believe that piece of paper actually means something about your abilities. Not having a degree just means you have to work harder than the other guy who probably knows less than you.
