it all depends on what kind of site you want to build. if it's a simple site, then no php is required.

skyhigh, the questions that you are asking have no simple answer. If you honestly have no concept of even simple html, I would recommend spending some time at the w3c.org to learn the basics of html.

After that, I would spend some time reading through ALL of the stickies here at Wildfire. You may also want to spend some time reading through forums at WebmasterWorld, Digital Point, and Sitepoint.

these questions are too general, broad and honestly... stupid. read everything you can on wickedfire.com, sitepoint.com, digitalpoint.com, namepros.com and any others for about a month straight and THEN come here with questions. until you do that, you are wasting your time.

and learn how to use dreamweaver. goto webmonkey.com or search "dreamweaver tutorials" on google. wickedfire isn't the answer to these questions... they are too basic and expansive. we can't teach you how to poop on the toilet.

do google searches on your questions and read up and come back in march. not trying to be a dick... just friendly advice.

His questions are actually pretty legitimate.

Search for "how to make a website" on Google yourself, and tell me if that should make any sense to a newbie. You can tell that the first few results don't really make sense, but a beginner can't.

Imagine someone trying to learn about websites by using the first result on Google

And no, he shouldn't read too many threads on any forum just yet, but a few focused articles ;)

Anyway, here are some concrete steps...

Go ask around Google.

You're interested in html, so look for html tutorials and find the one that looks readable to you.

After you're done with reading a couple of them & understanding what it's all about, go through a few basic css tutorials.

Make yourself a test.html page on your PC and use it to practice the things you've learned in the tutorials.

If you really want to do it, all of this shouldn't take you more than a week.

After you're done, come back here, report on your progress and then we'll talk marketing.
