Disaster Preparedness: Are you ready?

This reminds me of the discoery channel show that showed a couple who had made a doomsday shelter.

But as for me I have a basement stocked with about 3 days worth of food, and some blankets.

massive fucking solar flares popped off and are suppose to hit earth on 6/16. Hopefully the electric grid don't go down, if it does - was good knowin ya fucks (lol)

I pretty much live in the mountains. I have a well and solar not to be off the grid or anything but because its cheaper and in the winter its kinda necessary. I also have a couple of guns and about 5000 rounds of 7.62x54r. not stocking up or anything Its just cheap ammo. I figure I'm fucked anyway cause everyone is gonna head up hear when it hits the fan anyway. I'm also accurate to about 400 yards with my m44 so I will take a few with me.

Have you thought about setting up a perimeter with trip wire?

Nope no real need. I don't think I would want to be one of the last people alive anyway. When my Coumadin runs out I die anyway so kind of a no win situation. We don't call it prepping up here we just call it getting ready for blizzards and wild fires. I do have a lot of pot though since its legal and all here. So maybe when the end comes you guys can drive your bug out vehicles with your 500lbs of shit and ninja stars up or whatever and smoke some grass. I do prep that for winter.

We got billboards every where around here right now that say

"Hurricaine season is here, be prepared"

LMFAO!

If I was you, I'd replace most of it with higher quality stuff...or other stuff you would need. And I would buy a sharpener...it won't hold an edge for very long with any real work.

Here is what I have

DMT DMGEF Diafold Magna-Guide Sharpening System

and for dull or damaged blades...

Agreed - that knife is absolute garbage and is guaranteed to break in half between the handle and the blade. You want a full tang knife, or if you are going hollow handled, get an integral hollow handled knife. Originally they were made by Chris Reeve Knives, but you can buy import knockoffs by Schrade for like $50 on amazon (I believe one is the SCHF3). If you don't want or need the gimick of a hollow handle I recommend ESEE Knives - the ESEE 4 or ESEE 5 are both good all around survival blades. Cold Steel and Kabar both make good survival style knives if you don't want to spend as much money.

This is a pretty interesting thread as my IM endeavors operate within this niche.

The whole prepper thing is pretty fascinating. Pretty wild how rapidly we have grown to mistrust the govt. I don't think anyone was prepping 20 years ago. That said, I don't blame people. Once I'm in a little more comfortable situation financially I'll be investing in more ammo and other items. It certainly doesn't hurt when you live on the coast.

I'm right handed but left eye dominate. Was working on quick aiming with both eyes open and teaching my brain to line up and learn to let my right eye dominate when shooting right hand.

Sucks, cuz it's really easy to aim with both eyes open when I'm shooting left handed, but feels uncomfortable shooting left handed. But on then again, I feel comfortable shooting right handed but takes extra thought to aim with both eyes open for the first shot. Here is what I was hitting, starting with pistol at my chest and then quick aiming and firing at 15 yards.

Yeah, that knife is definitely not a knife you want to depend your life on. I have it for my "Don't care if I break it" tasks, and to hold some survival things inside. I carry around my buck 110 every where as well. I think I forgot to add that.

This is pretty cool too, I use it for when we go camping so that we can power up iphones, but again, its good for emergency situations incase power goes out. You can also hook 3 of these up together and produce more output.

I prefer benchmade knives. The axis lock is much more secure. My favorite is the 710. Also, instead if a fixed blade their hawk might be a better option. It's got a pry bar and tip that will puncture oil drums.

Get that sat phone first bro. Helo heads won't talk to you unless you have a sat phone.

LuLz at this guy thinking reliance on satellites will be a good option.

Double LuLz at this guy for not only using russian steel cased ammo, but the absolute lowest, most shittiest gummiest piece of shit russian ammo ever created (tul) - was wolf, silver bear, etc to expensive? Although its understandable to pick russian ammo due to it being more cost effective, that tul shit has so many horrible reviews its fucking redic. Endless cleaning and misfires is all you'll get out of that brand

That was the point. I shot every kind of bullet through the gun to test how they fire through the pistol. Obviously you can see the Federal FMJ laying there on the same counter.

I keep Federal Premium Self Defense controlled expansion in my clip for the house, I shoot Federal FMJ typically on the range but just bought 1000 Rounds of 9mm Ammo by Sellier & Bellot - 115gr FMJ for the range.
