Just thought I'd bring everyone (including Mill from Millnic Media) to light on something I discovered earlier today. A Millnic Media affiliate is using stolen (phished) Myspace accounts to market email entry offers.

They are using Geocities websites to forward to the offers.

http://www.geocities.com/saduza46092/

forwards to:

<url removed by request of network> - Macy's $500 Giftcard

They've made their rounds, I've seen various bulletins posted on at least 10 of my friends accounts. I can bet whoever is doing this is banking extremely well... but will most likely get shut down and prosecuted due to their dirty methods and sheer obtrusiveness.

The phishing process is quite simple as it's very easy to duplicate the myspace login page and redirect users towards it ... I only wonder how they're automating the whole process. Though I disagree with their ways... I am somewhat curious.

looks like the geocities page got shut down
I would contact Mill directly if you want his attention, but this can (and probably does) happen with all the networks out there.

you do know phishers use alot of major aff. networks? millnic media has only been around recently, youre acting like all phishers use millnic or something? thats retarded, lol. this thread is useless. its called pm'ing or email'ing someone privately (ie Mill)

stop crying man...
Go to Screennameforum for example & you will find hundreds of people doing the same fucking thing! Do I support people using phished accounts... NO, because I think it's more or the less stealing. But it happens everywhere within the MySpace community! The other day a friend of mine told me that all his profiles where phished also.

Crying? I'm not crying or bitching about this at all. I was just contributing this info to add to the community and bring up a pretty touchy subject.

Like I admitted - I am curious about their methods of automation.

Michel Z.... You are so quick to judge. I mean, after observing all of your comments in regards to Myspace marketing you are obviously in favor of this activity.

The only reason I even mentioned Millnic Media was that the ONLY place I've seen or heard the name is here on the forums. Obviously they are still quite small ... I was thinking the person doing this Myspace advertising might even be one of our fellow members.

Well, you didn't read my reply carefully!
I will be never in favor of phishing MySpace accounts. Phishing accounts is regarding my opinion still something else then for example sending out bulletins where you promote your stuff. I wanted to say that phishing accounts unfortunately happens everywhere all the time, it's not something what happens only to you... :)

PS - Dayne if I sounded so quick to judge, please forgive me man... it's my birthday today and had a few beer, anyway I think it's time to look for my bed! :D

We here at Millnic Media do not condone any type of spamming, but with this being said, there is no possible way that one network can monitor all affiliate actions 24/7. We will look into this matter and appreciate your notifying us.
