Direct Linking in POF low conversions

Newbie here. I'm direct linking in POF have split tested a dating offer. I'm getting decent CTR between .2 and .4 depending on some of the ads however. My conversions are really poor.

I've adjusted my bid higher/lower switched between ads etc. The dating offer i'm running is popular on my network so i don't believe that is the problem. Is a landing page the only other way to increase conversions?

Should I narrow my niche even more? Basically I've gotten about 7 conversions for 400 clicks in 4 days. I thought i was getting the hang of it when yesterday I got 3 conversions but the ads converting didn't convert again and haven't today either. Any ideas or suggestions?
 


They have some unbelievably complex targeting options. Hopefully you are tracking which people are converting.

Don't base your decision on click through rating. Base it on conversions.

What type of people are converting (regardless of CTR)? Do they smoke or not? How much money do they make? How much do they weigh? Do they have a car? They give you all those options. But you need enough conversions to really see what is what. Gotta keep throwing money at it.
 
That's what i figured, I was hoping the few that are converting would convert a little more so it doesn't just feel like money down the drain.

How do you find out such depth information?
