I can't be the only one here who still browses the links section over at DP looking for some hidden jems, which can be found on occasion, but today I got a bug up my ass to start a thread looking for some good sports links. MISTAKE!

It doesn't matter what you say in your thread, your PM box will instantly be bombarded with the poorest quality sites known to man. I specifically said NO LINK BROKER sites, and what shows up, every other PM had at least 3 or 4 of the same sites the last guy had sent. And they all claim to be the owners. Riiiiight!

I won't even get into the fake PR slanging. It's a nifty trick to have a PR5 sports blog with 1 backlink. I need to learn that one.

The other thing I love is the nonsensical domains they send over. So I'm looking for a link on a soccer related site and I get these lists of urls like:

http://www.xldidyd.com
http://www.38933lsdsds.net
http://www.yhhskson.org

With all sorts of topics from soccer to burglar alarms to payday loans. Complete crap.

In the end I did find a few really good sports sites actually. They're almost too good really. One guy sent me a list of 10 sites that are PR7 to PR5 and appear to be fairly legit, but I'm still wary.

Ok, I have no idea why I started this thread. Please return to your lives.
 


I can't hate on DP, it's where I found one of my gay lovers. I think he still has an account there - ly2 from DP
 
Oh did I mention the prices these guys are trying to charge?

$85/year for a blogroll on a PR1 Cricket site. $150/year for a PR4 blogroll link on a soccer site. Who actually thinks they can get these prices.? There must be some ballin ass ballerz over in Pakistan with those rates.
 
Oh it's a nightmare. I stopped a while ago. Those Indian/Indonesian/Paki link brokers are fucking aggressive and respond to every single thread hoping to sell their shitty links.

I agree that sometimes you find gems, like this one time I got this student from an Ivy league U to sell me a link on his 5 year old health blog for $25 because he was broke as fuck. I was the ONLY link on his site... but it's basically 1/100.
 
If you can find White, English speaking members on DP (which is a challenge), you have a shot at getting decent links. Probably sounds racist, but that's the reality of it.

I've picked a few really good ones in the past, but never from any India or Pakistani sellers.

If I ran a Cricket site I'd pay $85/year.

If I ran a soccer site I'd pay $150/year.


Reminds me of how links were years ago. They cost more money, but were on REAL and QUALITY sites, and you need so many less than the shit people sell now on "fake" real sites. I remember paying $3-10/month for links, and then $50+/year... the major difference... ALL LINKS were on REAL and LEGIT sites that users actually used, and revisited often.

Hopefully it will also eliminate over 90% of the bullshit site creators, and link sellers out there. You end up paying the same in the end anyway... $85 for a good link or $10 and then you have buy 8-10 shitty links anyway...

Bring back real sites, real people, and REAL links :)

So much hassle nowadays with all this bullshit to go through.
 
Set up a new e-mail, in the thread ask them to send an e-mail with the subject line: "LINKSALES", filter by that.

Most of them are retarded and don't actually read what you write, give them a small task like above (or just get them to say a random word such as monkey at the end of the e-mail and filter by that) and you'll deal with a lot less idiots.
 
Surprised Shawn Hogan hasn't started his jail sentence yet. Hopefully the forum will land in the hands of someone who can turn it around. Since he has zero business sense, that wouldn't be hard.
 
DP is like the lowest of the lowest... Everyone is so desperate to make $1, they'll panic and freak out like it's the opportunity of a lifetime.. Ignoring the fact they could make $100 if they just spent five seconds slowing down and focusing on building a site, product, etc. I can't even bring myself to go back there..
 
I've made very good $ through partnerships that started on DP (think network specific).

But overall the place is a POS if you don't know who the quality players are.
